Can see my server in master list, but cant connect!

I am trying to set up a dedicated server, and it appears to be running fine other than I cannot connect to it, even though i can see it in the master list! When i connect to it from the master list, it sits there and says 'the requested operation is taking longer than expected'. then a few moments later it says 'a connection could not be established with the server, this is due to the server dropping or internet problems', or something to that effect. Has anyone had this problem occur?

Yeah I have it. Can't host a server or try out my mods :'( Same thing. That means that I go on other servers to try out my mods!

(All links with this username and the username in freelancer are purely coincidental. There is no proof that an SE6 in freelancer is me!)
