Can''t see LAN server? Can''t specify an IP?

OK, just tried running a LAN server on my server and one of my client computers can see the server and one can’t. I’m really to the point of almost pulling my hair out trying to figure why this one computer can’t see the server. Now thing is, I’ve used this server to host games of Quake3, Half-Life, BF1942, etc and joined them with this same client computer and never had a problem. Now all of a sudden I can’t do it with freelancer? WTF! What almost pissed me off more though is I can’t figure out how to manually specify a server IP to connect to. I mean, the problem could be the client, the server, or the game itself, but if I was able to make a connection in any way other than using the crap in game server browser maybe I could diagnose this problem. Is there any way to specify a server IP address to connect to?

Start this script by dubbleclick

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Freelancer\EXE\fldirectip.hta

There you go

Make sure your tcp/ip setting are correct configured because some games will also work via netbios. Configuring DNS on your server also does wonders!

Well that seems almost just like what I’m looking for, except it doesn’t seem to do anything.

I add the server IP, click add server, and then click launch freelancer. It launches the game just the same as it always did and goes right into the intro movies and then into the main menu (And still doesn’t list any servers when I go to the in game browser). Am I doing something wrong or what?

OK, the problem was that I was running DirectX 8.1 and I needed 9. Everything works now
