Slave I in ELite ?!?

I have thye slave I mod on and I was playing on the Elite server. I went to pittsburgh and found that the SLAVE I was purchaseable. Would it be cheating for me to buy this ship?

No it would not be cheating, but if you continue to use a mod on this server you MIGHT be banned (fair warning). I mean the password you typed in should be a dead give away we don't want just any 'ol mods used on it. Reason? It's can make the entire server unstable for everyone. We want a clean server and we'll do whatever is needed to keep it that way.

It's for the better good of the community we take this stance, no offense and thank you for asking first! UPDATE! We actually very interested in this mod working on Elite. News of your banning may be overstated. Can you email me please?

Stinger would there be any plans on Elite adding more ships to add some reblance and veritey(sorry sleep typing)? i would like to fly a gun ship are maybe a starwars ship

i understand the Elite team dont like the modding i understand compltely seems ppl want 20 guns on a LF and everyting maxed out. but if Elite team was to make sure the ships would be balanced then there wouldnt be any problems that i know of

but to be able to fly a anubis or a bertiona gunship would be cool so im just wondering if the Elite team would ever consider it

if it not a good idea well ill keep playing on a Elite anyways

I've been wondering if Elite was planning to take advantage of the modding commuity also. I understand why client side mods would be discouraged, but do server side mods lead to the same sorts of stability problems? Given the current superiority of VHFs I can't imagine the game becoming more unbalanced by introducing gunships etc. What does the Elite team think about this?

Mods on elite are no really encouraged as a free-for-all right now. We are trying VERY limited experiments with VERY limited mods. We all know why, not all mods are created equal. Some mods are tweaked beyond normal and those will crash the server in a heartbeat. This is something we do not want to get into at all. But we are dabbling just to make sure the quality of play is not adversly affected by something that adds too much and breaks the server.

Bottom line, check with us first. Email the admin and get approval BEFORE you jump on with a mod (or you'll be banned no questions or discussions period). When you do ask, tell us what it is exactly your doing (what mod), what your nickmane is (so we can watch) and some explicit details on what the mods does would be vital information to share. Email addy is right there on the server news, please use it.

If you can't handle telling the owner of a server what you're doing, then your outta there pure an simple. We're flexibile, we just want to be informed...that's not asking too much. If a mod can be used (by informing, getting approval and testing) and it doesn't crash the server then chances are it can live in harmony on the server.

We do NOT want to start haivng to check for mods (we haven't been told about) and don't want to hear "so and so's mod is working, why can't I use my mod?" We don't want to have to wipe all the characters again and if this gets out of hand, that's what we'll have to do. Remember, the bottom line here is server stability for everyone.

There should not be a free - for all, but we should have a server with certain Mods, - listed on this site.
I REALLY want to be able to fly around in a battleship, and have people dock w/me

That would be a lot of fun

I would be nice if you could creat a list of appoved mods. I don't see why an Awing or a ship like that would crash a server i am new to this but it just seams like a model like any other ship. Now new guns and strange things like that might do somthing.

Teamwork is needed in all games it gives the them someone else to shoot at.

Ah Stinger, I'm using that engine trails mod, that would be alright wouldn't it? Also, instead of new ships, or any MAJOR mods on Elite, I think they should just tweak it so that any ship type could be competitive, I love my Banshees and Valkyries, and its disappointing that they just arent competitive enough for it to be sane to fly one (doesnt mean im gonna stop flying them, just means I'm not enjoying it so much because PvP get so one sided).

@Hellmeister et. all

Please, do not use mods on Elite without prior approval. This is exactly what we don't want, a free-for-all. Contact the server admin with DETAILS of what it is you're wanting to use, what nickname you'll be using so we can monotor the server load and if you can tell us what the mod does SPECIFICALLY. Right now, the only mod I'm aware of with approval is the Slave I mod and it's on a limited basis during testing. If you jump on Elite with a non-approved mod, we have no choice but to ban you...no discussions, no unbanning...you're simply out.

We have to learn to crawl before we can walk before we can run. If everyone starts trying their mod on the server and the server get sick, we're right back at square one. Help us help support the mod community and support this approval process first.

Slave 1 working on Elite? I played that ship in SP, and it's way overpowered. For example if you hit Z to kill your engine, you go warp speed! Like 900 or something, I forget. Also it can mount level 10 guns in all slots. Someone flying that would totally overpower anything and everything they went up against.

Now, the mod may have been changed since I played it, but if it hasn't ...

A nice idea would be unlocking all those weapons and ship components that we see on other ships but cant have acess to.

(nomad lazer, nomad thruster, adv lvl 10 champion shields) etc

Never played on Elite (never played any MP period, aside from my own lan server) but I have to agree, the only Slave 1 mod *I* know of is seriously overpowered. $100,000 credits for a ship with 150,000 hp, 6 class 10 weapon/missile slots, 2 class 10 turrets, 300 cargo, 160 top speed/280 thrusters, and a freakin hyperspace mode when you hit Z? All I can say is if you ain't flyin it you're dyin to it. I have the Slave 1 mod and the A-Wing mod(both by the same modmaker), and I dropped the Slave 1 in favor of the A-Wing simply cause Slave 1 was just too easy. A-Wing is actually semi-balanced- it's faster then most ships, but it's only got 4 weapon slots, and it's hull is weaker than most "class-10" ships.
(I also "roleplay" it- I have regular guns on the side slots, and missiles on the underslots, and I don't use the turret)

All I can say is I hope you're running a highly tweaked version of the Slave 1 mod...
