Unheard of Multiplayer Probs

hi all

Freelancer multi player has been working fine up until today (wends), on tues it works and now it dont.

when i try to join a server from the main list i get the "please wait its taking a long time error", waiting does nothing and after pressing esc i get a "i'm sorry, your account name and password are not valid on this server, please check and try again" or so error.

dont have a clue as to WHY it has done this, happens to a mate of mine as well

anyone else have this problem?

sounds to me like an invalid ID. reinstalling might fix this. also check to see if the ID is installed properly (some other installation may have done something to it) at Start > Microsoft Games > Freelancer > Examine my Account ID

it should say whether or not its installed properly.

they are full of crap, it means that you do not have a good direct connection with that server, or that server has crash. just wait awhile and try again.

don't reload, you'll loose you character profiles on the servers you have played on already. if you have never been able to get on a server, then take Godspeeds advice

if you want to consider possible hack attempts, it could mean you are being "ping flooded","port scanned" and various other things,, so that could be why your connection with the server sux. Then there is an obvious one which only eludes those that are victims to it. YOU"RE AN AOL USER. (if you are not an aol user, then don't take this personally)(if ya are, then GET ANOTHER ISP!!!!)

i have no clue why people defend aol with their life, when they are having their souls sucked out of them by aol.

Hi all

GodSpeed - i checked the ID and it said it was working fine, the prob was that ANY server i tryed to join - even ones that i visit often, didnt work.
i done a new install and got a new ID, this one worked. then i reinstalled to try entering my old ID, i managed to join servers but it didnt see my chars, so i gotta make new chars, i dont mind 2 much i was gonna make a new char anyway.

sir0die - my prob was happening with every server so i dont think it is the problem of a poor conx, i got a router so the chance of ping flood etc is low (the router blocks ping attempts) and last but not least, no offense taken at the AOL thing, i agree AOL is **** and u will NEVER A DAY IN HELL get me using a AOL **** of ANY TYPE, but i would b careful when throwing that around, most AOL users think that AOL are Gods - so just leave these type of ppl alone in their little dream world :p

Anyway the problem has been sorted, not how i liked but its working so i dont care too much, Thx for all your help ppl

here s a thought man, it could be to things. 1. your account info was rejected becuase you user name or account info is being used by another person hmm...friends of yours maybe. 2. check your firewall if you have a hub in your home that connects more that one pc. some newer hubs such as the linkius routers have build in firewall check the setup on that. 3 if your OS is win XP check your network connections. you may need to repair the connection between you and YOUR service server the option to repair is in the manager. you must be able to send and receive cookies form the server network firewalls and damged connection can prevent you from connecting.

hope it helps
