i dont think you can do that with the normal server setup. youre gonna have to make a mod (unless someone already has). the best place to check would be the Freelancer General Editing Forum

OK I managed to work it out on my own.

You can change the file C:\progranm files\microsoft games\freelancer\exe\mpnewcharacter.fl

Theoretically you could change
starting cash
costume
starting system
starting base
but not a lot else.

heh you can change costumes? (anyone say player monkeys? )

hm, all you woudda have to do is to change the newcharacter.ini file in the CHARACTERS folder (use BINI to decompress the file).

there you then can change starting money, starting ship and starting location...

BUMP! this is exactly the kind of thread i was looking for. I was going to create one for something similar.

On connecting to a server, we're given:
starting location
Starting cash
Starting ship
character look

Are there Multipplay mods out there that allow you to change these attritubes and potentially UNLOCK all characters, all starting ships, a decent amount of cash and the choice to pick from ALL of the starting locations? It seems such an obvious thing to tinker with an change, because in the game connection screen it almost seems customisable (but it isn't which is a real shame).

costumes? cool man. can i import from other games? lol. i would wanna be SOlid Snake or Cyborg Ninja hehe. Tidus' not a bad idea too lol. maybe we can play cosplay.
