WOOHOO! No more need for the global!!! Read on!!!

The All Seeing Eye now has Freelancer support!

This means no more global server needed to connect to servers!

http://www.udpsoft.com/eye/

Download it NOW!!!

Note: after you start Freelancer via ASE, you need to go to Multiplayer and then Lan instead of internet. The server will show up there. Totally bypassing the Microsoft global server.

Second Note: The server list in ASE will be different than the global because ASE creates it's own list by searching the net for running servers. Also you will not have a list of servers you have played on before.

I'm no tech support, but I'll answer what questions I can about ASE here.

Bump: If you have problems with the global and you ignore this, you're being foolish.

Go there, use it, have a great time with freelancer.

Last I checked, which was 5 seconds ago Freelancer is still not supported by ASE. You can list servers but you can't actually launch the game and connect directly to it. All it does is load the game that's it. So it's actually an extra step at this point. You will also see that it says in caps UNSUPPORTED right underneath your Freelancer tree =)

I read your message this morning and tried to patch ASE but they had the server reserved for registered users. I thought maybe they did actually add support but I finally have the patch and Freelancer is still UNSUPPORTED which sucks. The ingame browser looks great and all but its slow and lacks alot of information and functionality that ASE could bring to the table.

ASE still has been a god-send when the in-game global server is down.

Avernus: All you need do start FL from the browser and then select the lan option in FL's multiplayer screens. Your chosen server shows up there. The shortcoming is on FL's side as it has no direct connection option (I was wrong to believe it had one before).

Wheather it be by design or by shortcoming on DA's part, neither ASE or GSA will be able to connect in any other way than this.

Hopefully DA update the engine to be more game browser friendly.

I've tried launching freelancer from ASE then going to multiplayer>lan as well as adding the servers to my favorites in ase, but they don't show up. I just have a completely blank screen in the freelancer multiplayer>lan server window.
