The Coveted lvl38

Just a thought, but a valid one I think nonetheless:

Why is attaining lvl38 so easy in Freelancer? Am I the only one here who thinks that Dig. Anvil should reconsider the criteria (ie money count) that allows the player (especially in MP) to gain lvl38 status?

My mind wanders over to the early days of Diablo 2 Classic where there was little by way of cheating and duping (or in FL terms, mods and hacks). getting to lvl99 back in those days was a coveted thing...very few people had it, and everyone wanted to be there. FL hardcore players can safely attain lvl38 in only a few hours these days, and even the average player who pays attention can reach that level in 6-8 hours easily.

I just wondered if I was alone on this one, as it would be nice for high level characters to actually mean something.

hmm i think i agree with ya..
i think there has to be some kind of.. lvl that only a few can have.. like a mission that you have to do.. to get like.. 5 lvl's.... or whatever.. just something to make the game worth wile..

Or maybe make MP have higher lvls than 38...why not go to lvl 99?

Levels should be based on the number of missions completed and the sum of their difficulty levels.

"a few hard missions = a load of easy missions"

If you wnt to trade, cool, trade. Get loads of cash stored up, then go off and do missions to level.

Also the SP thing about "you have be level 30 to buy a Sabre", etc., should also be in the MP game.

Yep go to level 50 or 99. i think 50 better and you worth gota be like 20 million and you gota have had 1000 kills or something.

or a 10000 kliks to get to new lvl if you want to trade!

I guess my next question is: do the people at Microsoft's Digital Anvil ever read boards like this to get ideas as to how to make the game better? Or are they on their own little agenda as to what we'll have in future patches?

M$ usually have their own agenda, but I don't know about DA.

Make the top level atainable only by Dueling and only for a limited number of players? You have to get to the next highest level, then you qualify to attack and kill the highest level dude and knock him back down while taking his level? If you fail he maintains his level and knocks you down several levels and takes all your money?

This could get interesting.

Should use the Elite method, each next higher level was double the previous to attain. So getting to Elite took work.

When I see the number of kills I have achived in my lvl 38 character on one server in 4 days and think of the weeks I spent just to get to Above Average in Elite, makes you wonder if the long term was thought of, for this game or the ADDON mentality. ie screw them every 8 months with a £20 addon
