How to set up MP on my pc?

Hi

I would like to play the multiplayer game on my pc, but just on my pc (ie not connected to the net or LAN).

Could anyone please tell me how to do that? When I click on multiplayer option the screen comes up with no servers on the list so I cannot play......

1, start a sever it doesnt mater your not on lan
2, start freelancer => multiplayer => yes => lan
3, join your own sever.
4, have fun

I tried this but no servers are showing. I don't have a firewall going (not that I think that would make a diff if I'm just playing MP by myself).

I'm running WXP Pro, AMD 2100 XP, 256 DDR, GF3 Ti 200, DX9 ish.

I’ve gone through most of the threads and the above instructions was precisely want I wanted (I think the Read Me and Manual said the same thing - sort of). But it didn't work. I tried the fldirectip.hta file but still no joy. Any help would be most appreciated. Great game.

ps. If I'm not running a firewall, router or any other internet related device except for my 56K modem, do I need to worry about "ports" on a LAN? Yes, I know, maybe it is a dumb question but I'm sure someone else would like to know too :-)

i have seen that some people with 56k modems can't get the server list...others can though.
