Fix the crappy MP-mode already!

Its so sad to see such a beautiful game have such ****ty code. Who at DA thought up the genious idea of putting global player data on the clients? Its safe to say that I have one of the most popular Freelancer servers around([SdU The Universe 24/7), and I feel so helpless to all cheats and patches that pops up on it every day. My own account there is 100% legit and I have worked very hard for it, and it makes me angry and sad when all new players have it all already as they log on for the first time.

How would it look, for example, if you used the same technique programming Quake or CS? Those games would never been as big as they are today if they had. This is the biggest problem for the future survival of Freelancer.

They really, REALLY, need to make the game truly serverbased instead of using a pseudo multiplayer environment. Everything from prices, "where-to-buy":s to complete system designs should be fetched from the server. Just implementing a small checksum notice between the server and a client could also fix it, but that is although very easy to circumvent(but atleast, not everyone with a single reshack could do it).

I'm sorry to say, that chances are that my popular server won't be around for much longer if they don't address this soon, as I have far better uses for that computer than just being a Meltingpot of Cheaters. Its regrettable that I feel like this after just 2 weeks of playing... :-(

Same goes for my server unfortunately...When you can reach everything within one days of gaming and cheating is *that* easy without giving the server admins ANY chance to enforce any rules there is something REALLY fishy.

How does anyone know for sure something is not in the works now? Game's only been out for 3 weeks (retail) and isn't even available everywhere in the world yet.

I agreed, some things are needed to give server admins more rights...that's obvious.

jup, more rights and even more important MORE LOGS.

its not like that in a game like fl cheating would be a real option is you just give the admins a ability to log every actions that happens on the server AND to use a scripting languages to react automatic on some of the most common stuff.

with that all money cheating, and all cheating with editing you ships weapons etc to places where they do not belong could be solved. and this would be not really hard to give the server admins.

actually, the scripting stuff could be very very basic even, just a interface, that can react to a on the server running script, that check the logs ... which could be simply asci text; kick user x, ban user x, send user x bla-text, delete user x, that would be more or less all, that imo would be needed to send into the programm from an outside, serverside running script that checks the log files ... and I am damn sure that the comunity would be cable of writing such scripts, its just the interface to interact with the fl server over such scripts that is missing

at least this is imo something, that should be done in a coming patch ... if they are working on a better solution fine, but this is kinda the minimun they should give their customers that enjoy freelancer.

I understand the problem of cheaters. For the time being I locked my server to friendly clans only. I know all the players that come and play and cheaters are kicked.

Most of the players are just happy they can play this game which is a true descendant of Privateer.

Worst thing is the fact the game is not available over here ... putting 45 days between the release in the USA and Europe is asking for trouble.

I have been checking Lancersreactor since Starlancer and would like to say this is a good and informative website. Keep up the good work!

I made some kind of admin mod and i ahve assigned multiple admins to overlook my server...

I have modified one weapon for the admins wich will kill almost everything in 2 secs not because i want to but when a cheater comes in lets see if he like to blown out of the sky by 4 admins and there little he can do about it...

I know i should not do it but it keeps peace in the server..

Whenever we have a dual with other players i simply reequip myself for combat.

this is only a temp solution until better server tool come out and one that so i can give my admins rights to kick and ban people..

To stinger,

after 5 years why would some miracle patch be in the works now all of a sudden..
it's so ridiculously easy to cheat in fl mp its a damn shame=/

and still some people are so worried about people bringing their uber chars from server to server pking them they don't understand the need for things to be run serverside by da...
