Jump Holes

I'm relatively new to the mp aspect of Freelancer, and one thing I've noticed kinda of makes me wonder.

For example, I came upon a jump hole in the Leeds system, in that brown cloud at the bottom right of the nav map, and even when I was 0 m away, it still ssaid unknown object.

I was exploring on a new server, so I was still lvl 1 at the time. Do you need to be a certain lvl to access jump holes, or was I lagged or something?

Any help greatly appreciated.

That jumphole leads to Cambridge, but it's only one way. That means you can't take it from Leeds, but you can take it from Cambridge to Leeds.

In general, convenient "shortcuts" used during the single player campaign cannot be used in multiplayer. This includes:

- New York <-> Magellan jump gate.
- Magellan <-> Leeds jumphole.
- New Berlin <-> Sigma-13 jumphole.
- Chugoku <-> Sigma-13 jumphole.

Other exceptions:

- The Tohoku, Alaska, Omicron Major and Omicron Minor systems are not accessible in multiplayer or after the single player campaign is over. The Tohoku jumpholes simply do not appear anywhere, and the Alaska jumpgate in New York is unusable.
- The Cambridge -> Leeds jumphole is one way.
- The Omicron Alpha <-> Omicron Theta jumphole is unmarked on the Theta side but it can be used in both ways, and appears as a small red spot on the Theta map.
