Does 56K slow down high speed users?

I find alot of lag on some servers. I have DSL. When a 56K user joins in does his or her slow connection cause lag for broadband users?

Yes it does.

I haven't seen 56k users impeed highspeed users (cable/DSL). I have, however, seen 56k users have trouble with serious choppiness/lag and server drops. The dialup guy kept going out, and coming back in. Didn't affect me, though.

If you have a bunch of folks on the same server you might begin to see some global lag. I play on a private server, and there is never really more than four or five of us on at once.

High ping players shouldn't affect low ping players or the server's performance much. The low pingers would see the high pingers fly a little more erraticly, and the high pingers would have a much harder time playing.

if one lags, he lags, its a pain the kill him, 56k users often have high pings ... though those broadband users that think they can play fl AND run a filesharing tool like kazaa are defintaly worse.

aswell if they are in the same combat zone as you, they can affekt overall lag ... in general you can aswell say, the more players together in an area, the moe lag.
(though had no real problems cause of that, and we where about half a dozen and more figting)

Well if you remember when you used to play Starlancer in Multiplayer on the Game Zone on MSN. You sometimes had a player join the game with a high PING using Dial-up connetion. This used to effect all the other players in the game until you Booted him. Then things would return back to normal for everybody left in the game.

So the answer is "YES" a player with a bad connection can effect the gameplay for everbody else in the game!

Other reasons are also to many people connected to one server. The fewer the better. Also using MODS will cause LAG in games!
