Can you mine in multiplayer

I have tried. I see the little rocks that float by my ship and when i shoot them they blow up and leave nothing. Am i doing something wrong?

Yes, you can. Make sure you're in a mineable zone. Shoot the rocks (Not with your 6 Class 10 weapons or you destroy the goods as well) and tractor in the loot. The more valuable/rare, the less of the rocks produce loot.

I mine diamonds in Dresden (about 25K East of Bautzen Station) all the time. I'd say you get one good rock out of every 8 or so you shoot.
