MP is way too easy
After my first run with the Starflier, I buy a Rhino. I buy a Drone half-way through my second run, then I'm off to Hamburg to buy a Humpback. With the Humpback's 250 cargo holds I can make the same run as before, but with no fear of taking hull damage with my Level 7 shields. With the Humpback, I make $570,250 net profit per run. That's after only three cargo runs! (Granted, they are long ones.) This is way too much money, way too soon.
I'm sure there are faster ways to make money than mine, but I liked running freight because it forced me to hire escorts, and therefore actually play a co-operative *multiplayer* game instead of just playing seperately from everyone else. Also, since I take a different role than my escorts/scouts, it makes things more interesting than forming a mob of fighters.
With afterburners and manual docking, I can escape any lane hack unscathed (except with the Rhino). The hostiles are too dumb to keep the lane ring down, so I jump a few seconds after it comes up. The police and navy are too easy to sneak by with a full hold of drugs - they might scan you while you're running past, but if they complain, you're already jumping the next lane before they can do anything. It only takes me 100 milliseconds to scan someone, they seem to take close to 5 seconds. Then they wait an awfully long time for you to decide whether or not you're going to drop your cargo - and I doubt anyone's ever even considered dropping theirs (frieghters wouldn't dare, and fighters wouldn't care). Jump gates pose the only real difficulty, but only when there are Trains/Transports causing a traffic jam.
The game would be even easier if I had no hostiles. I lot of players nuetralize all their reputations along their trade routes so they won't have any problems *ever* (unless they're running contraband). That makes the game so easy that you might as well be cheating.
And death! What is death? Death is the loss of your position in space. I'm the only one that has to fear death because I'm hauling almost my entire net worth in my cargo holds. If you're flying a fighter, and you're relatively near where you last docked, death means nothing!
This could be a really great game, and it was for me for the first few days, before I got good. I really enjoy the period of time on a multiplayer server when I've made a little bit of money and have invested it in a ship, and I'm looking forward to making enough money to customize it or buy a better one. Unfortunately, this doesn't last very long, and I quickly get bored of having the best ship, enough money to buy the best of everything in the game, and nothing left I want to spend my money on anyways.
