i was just wondering if there's any tips how u guys dogfight.
Rule #2: Try to make sure that the opponent can`t follow rule #1.
Rule #3: Make sure you don`t break rule #1 by letting the opponent achieve in rule #2.
Rule #4: Always follow etiquette. Say thank you when your opponent made you break rule#1, say Sorry when you dodge the opponent`s missiles.
Rule #5: When having killed your opponent, return to him the weapons that you collected from killing him/her (personally I like this rule)
"It is forbidden to kill; therefore all murderers are punished, unless they kill in large numbers and to the sound of trumpets"

Question 1 would be do you realy need to dogfight?
Question 2 is wat is the targets lvl?
Question 3 is do you have any valubale cargo if so sell it first, cause some pierates might wana help him
Question 4 is wats yer average kill speed, if it 5-10 seconds then go for it, if it isnt then make sure his isnt
that good enough?
If you see a Saber running away from some police, just wave you'll know its me

Don't get hit, and don't shoot unless you know you're gonna hit him.
Keep tapping that TAB button and weaving about like mad. Fly around randomly until you see a target flying away from you (but is still close, ie one who just passed you). And get right behind him. I'm talking within 200m here.
THEN open fire. Give him all you got, boosting when he boosts, turning when he turns. If you somehow let him get away or you shields get low (read: LOW, not GONE) then start dodging and weaving again until you can get your claws into another victim.
The strategy gambles on being able to kill the guy in one pass, cos if he gets away you will need to switch to a more convenient target anyway. However this strat requires the right type of ship loadout. You need the best thrusters you can find, and weapons that are high damage and high energy drain. You wont spend most of your time firing madly, but when you do fire the extra energy output will really pay off. If you have an odd number of gunmounts or turrets, then consider using one pulse weapon (if you have 6 gunmounts and no turrets, it should be ok to use 2 pulse weapons and 4 ridiculously high drain weapons). Hit him with everything until his shields go, then disable the pulse weapons so you can keep up the fire with the other ones longer.
The advantage of using pulse weapons is best felt PvP, seeing as AI don't get scared by low shields, but human players can often be fooled into thinking they are way over their heads if you use pulse weapons to munt their shields quickly (I'm talking about stunpulse and debilitator civilian weapons here), seeing as they prolly wont have scanned you and wont realise that it'll take you MUCH longer to work through their armour (so once their shields and batteries are gone they'll focus on dodging more instead of continuing to fight back).

Just remember, as it was with WWII fighter-pilots, turning ability is the key to pvp. If you can stick on his 6 then the battle should be a cake-walk. Out-turning your opponents will enable you to stay in a position outside of his main weapon arcs. However, if you are evenly matched in a turning battle, then it all comes down to who has more pulse weapons and batteries. However, if your loadouts are comparable as well, then it all comes down to who can be the most creative in combat. I'd definitely recommend the scissors maneuver (I'm not certain if this is the right name for it...but it seems appropriate--if someone does know the right name please feel free to correct me). Most ppl will engage in a bit of 'jousting' when a dogfight starts up. This is fairly predictable. player 1--------------><-------------player 2. The key to this is that you work your opponent's shields down (and if at all possible their armor too...though, this is not necessary). After you feel confident that you have their pattern down and they have yours, on the next pass perform a conversion and follow them. When you have them in your sights open fire with all you've got (even a torpedo if you've got one). Since you are off screen, their only indication of your distance is on the contact list. And by the time they realize that you're right on their tail, they're sucking vacuum. Of course, once you blow him/her away, their friends swoop in on you and finish you off. This post was really WAY too long. Cheers.
I had funny dogfight the other night, both other guy and I had eagle and similar weps, so we started chasing each other bit random at first, but then ended flying in spiral for like 2 mins. Every now and then we had small window of opportunity where we were head on to each other, so the guy who aimed better with those 1-2 shots won (me). Kinda funny, the bystanders thought it was interesting.
dropping a mine + firings a missle + torpedo can be so much fun when u go head on with an enemy (if u take his shield down)
especially if u do it when u r within 200m from your target
it will be almost impossible to dodge and by the time they get the 'incoming missile' warning its often too late
dont underestimate the power of a ripper mine + cannonball missile + starkiller torpedo (sunslayer if u have enough money) when u first knocked his shield out

well im a great dogfighter and personally as far as this game is concerened Missiles are a wast of money. There really easy to avoid. just hit strife and 9 times out of ten they will miss you. If there heat seeking then use counter messures.
Me i just stick with basics. One thing learn how to use strife. One trick is play chicken with an oppenent then last sec cut your engines down a bit hit strife so you move behind them quicker then hit your engines forward again and you can get on there tail quicker. that and you and they become open for a few secs which means you can hit them few more times. I can usually kill a ship off on a pass like that.
now there is much you can do for dog fighting cause rolling in this game kind of sucks the big one and its the key to dog fighting. Learn to trust your intincts this can protect you from missiles and when your being ganged up on.
one last thing practice makes perfect and try different tactics. Im one of the most unpredictable dog fighters you will ever come accross and im really quick at making kills. The one thing that prevents me from being unstoppable is there is no way to roll your ship if they put that in well I would be unstoppable.
O one other thing this is big tip...Have fun with it.
