Glass problem

I've created a custom ship for Freelancer. It is a simple kit clash on one of the civilian fighters (the eagle, to be precise). (Been using Milkshape for everything).

The textures are exactly the same as for those in the civilian line, except that I wanted the glass to be a custom colour (dark blue). I did the changes needed, then exported the model's CMP (File ==> Export ==> Freelancer CMP...), and the model's MAT (File ==> Export ==> Frelancer MAT v0.1 ==> Create new MAT file).

The ship works perfectly (well, the glass texture is a much brighter blue than the one I wanted, but that is much a minor issue), except for a slight problem: All other ships in the civilian line (from the Starflier to the Eagle) now have blue cockpit glasses. Just as if they were using the swallow.mat file as well - but no, I didn't touch their mat settings in the shiparch.

Next I thought it was some collission between the names. So I opened the model in MilkShape and changed the material's name cv_glass to swallow_glass. Exported both cmp and mat again. The result is that in the ship dealer, the civilian ships still have the blue cockpit, whereas in-game they all have the default brown cockpit (INCLUDING the new fighter).

Does anybody have an idea on how to clear this up?

This particular issue shows up when the ship you've created is using a "common" benchmark item to the rest of the ships.
Your glass texture should be unique from all the other ships.
i.e. in materials the name of the glass would be, "yourship_glass" or something that makes it be identified as unique.
Then using the utf editor and opening the mat file to your ship, you look for the glass texture and alter its color and opacity settings to the color and transparency you desire. This lets the other ships keep their characteristics while yours becomes uniquely yours.
