weapons

i am sort of confused... i thought that 10 levels of weapons were hardcoded into the game, is this true or has someone gotten around that a little unclear now.

BONUS QUESTION!

does anyone have any tips on making a very realistic freelancer ish navmap but with many more additions (coalition and nomad space, ect) because I need all the help i can get and a good but free picturemaker would be nice.

There are class entries for nearly all of the weapons which can be modified in the weapon_equip ini file, also in shiparch you can specify what class of weapons the ship will carry.

i mean like are there more than ten levels? could you make level 11 weapon? or another class besides the ten weapons?

no. there are 10 gun classes, 10 turret classes, and torpedo/cm classes - thats it. to add more would require some delicate hex editing. and no, it hasn't been done yet

ok thats all i was asking, i was getting confused by the grenade launchers thinking they were a new class, is it possible to mke new types of weapons?
so you have turrets, guns. cm, m, cd/torp, and suddenly grenade launcher?

making weapons is easy, search for it or go hunting in the tutorials, i think its in there, was done by Harrier i think (alot of thinking going on here) and itll basiclly tell you all the ways of making them, and how to make them work.

It's amazing what incredible things you can do with the current 10 levels of weapons and equipment.
Still, you can create new ones within those "guidlines"..and still have a form of class all to themselves.
As with all new creations and existing items, balance has always been the issue at hand. Wether it's with power or cost...or both.

@ Lancerlover;
I've seen variations of Nav Maps where the background had been changed.
That gave the overall looks something new to look at and give the impression you were actually somewhere else. Changing the appearance of existing systems also gives the game a new feel. So, adding new systems just expands it. There is a lot of open space to take up on the Nav Map.
Adding new systems that would show up on the map should be a piece of cake.
It's a matter of making sure the "Visit" to the new systems are set to "1" for them to show up on the map.
God, I love this game !
