Orbiting planets
I was sitting here thinking about having a game, and for some crazy, unknown reason, Orbiting Planets came into my head.
I have no idea why, but then i thought about it for littraly, 2 seconds and i sort of come up with a way that may be able to make this possible. i dont kno if this has been done before but for the sake of it ill post what i think anyway
anyways, my theory is this - Create a Planet model in Milkshape (A Simple Sphere is easy enuff), put any old skin on it for the time being, then work out the scale in comparison to other models like, to tradelanes, planets are generally 5 - 6 times in height so the diameter would be 5 - 6 times that of a trade lanes height. Get it coded into the game for a quick test to see if it actually appears (i have gotten this far but i cant see the planet for some wierd reason ) once that has been done and you can see it. go backinto milkshape and move the model off center. like move it to the right a bit. then make a small face at the middle of the whole milkshape screen (where the 3 lines are for X, Y, Z) then export it etc and in the coding for it where it is set to spin and rotate
spin = 0, 0, 0
and
rotate = 0, 0, 0
change these to some numbers to see if anything happens.
Like i said, i havent got as far as this as i cant see my actual planet and i dont kno how to edit or make sph files, if i knew how to edit them, that would make life SO much simpler as the coding is already there ^^
Any views on this are welcome, cus personally i think it would work ^^
*waits for someone to come smash my idea to peices* hehe
Cheers!
