Interesting thing I noticed (Spoilers for Hispania)

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

Interesting thing I noticed (Spoilers for Hispania)

Browsing through the .ini files in the BASES folder, I noticed a couple of things... I'm pretty sure others have seen this, but I didn't see it written anywhere, so here goes: first off, Malta and Crete were originally called, or are referred to in the code, as Havana and Madrid... A bunch of other bases have different names in the BASES folder as well, a few in every system. I just thought it was something neat there, and kind of gives you a background for the Hispania:

It's not just from Spain, it's not just from South America... It is somehow a combination of both! Good for that. I wonder if Castro is one of the Corsair Elders, I'm sure he's still alive thanks to those miracle cigars!

yeah... i figured the corsairs were supposed to be the hispania people.
thats why the whole "hispania getting lost en route to syrius" was such a dodgy concept and was never really explained too well. didnt have time to work it into the plot

well, I've seen the remains of sleeper ship Hispania near Malta ...

It's hostile for me since I tried to blow it up

Meph, for me the last and even first names were a dead dead dead giveaway.

It's nothing prejudiced or anything - it's a natural connection...Cortez, Julio, Margarita I mean....and the fact that they're not necessarily terrorist - they ally with noone and seem to attack based on survival.

Just check the info on the planets..Lots of cool info!

Hey, actual responses... I thought this had fallen by the wayside.

I didn't actual mean for this to be explaining the Hispania's destination, or the Corsairs, or anything... it was just an interesting note, because the Hispania homeworlds are Malta and Crete, not Havana and Madrid... I don't know why they didn't chose those, that would be sort of neat.

But, uh, good that people read this, even if for different reasons

Despite this being really quite obvious from just the names - there is a news story on the Colony News system that pretty much confirms this.

I'm hoping that the lack of general mention in-game means a possible expansion mission will perhaps be forthcoming... Perhaps where the Corsairs or whoever decide that they want to reclaim their House title, and perhaps the truth about the fate of the Hispania is revealed?

The game finished too quickly for me (I know it's freeform, but there doesn't seem much point to continuing after you've explored everywhere, got everything, and fought everyone). I liked Elite, or Frontier, where the game was impossible to "complete" in anything less than several months - so I really hope expansions are released to keep the interest in this otherwise great game.

As a side note, was in a bar in an Outcast base and the Outcast patron told me they had arrived on the hispania, that the ship had gone off course and left them out in the fringes. So quite possibly Corsair and Outcast both originated from the hispania.

they both do.

outcasts stood on the hispania until it reached near planet malta whereas the corsairs left before this thinking the ship wouldnt survive any longer.
