Being a pirate, anyone try doing it instea od trading?

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

Did a sticky save just after sp missions, now starting some branching careers. But pirate is fun, once you learn the jumpholes. Starting to nail convoys around hessian territory in a sabre, mounting the wildfires and another 1k+ pair of cl10 guns. Saw a nice pair of cl9 guns that sync/speed match the wildfires for sale in Corsair territory, so might buddy up with them for a bit.

A few missions, then begin my reign of terror through the inner worlds. At least till I find a pirate group to settle down with.

I make between 1.5 and 5 million per hour. 10 -15 million per day if I am not playing around with my eagle the whole time. I use my dromedary to pirate and it has a crisp clean rep with all of the trading factions and no travel time or distance.

you guys talking about piracy. you cruise around for ages nd accasionally get 300,000 worth of stuff if you are lucky and the you have to fly it to somewhere where it is worth something which takes ages. if you really want to make money fast go to crete take out 200,000 missions and you usually get enougth guns and loot to double that value and you get more money in much less time. if you relly like the piracy thing the best place in the universe is a jump hole in germany , i forget where, where niobioum shipments by the junkers are common and worth 1,600 locally.

Bounty,

You must have not had much success with pirating.
Pirating is a lot of fun. It is like fishing or treasure hunting. Missions get boring, but they are more profitable than most pirating gigs. When I get tired of Pirating I do missions with others, but not to make money, since they do not pay as much as a good pirating method, especially when you are doing missions in a group.
Transporting, I rarely do anymore, since it is definately boring and tiring. It takes way to long ot make any money and for some reason, it drains my energy for playing Freelancer.

i'm a pirate in the white starcruiser

it's good to be a pirate (not to mention how to kill pirates as well , so i'm a loner ) but i like piraty

with my very big cargohold (max 2500, with some extra stuff it's decrease to 2400 (but it's a lot))

i diamondrun from berlin to tokyo and u have almost 4m more money
just beat me with that

i dont mean more profit with fat ass cargo ship and 2500 hull space but i have tried pirating a lot. groups never seem to stick together long enough to do lots. we had three dromedarys continuously selling cargo that one sabre was 'creating' and that was good but quite difficult to organsie

You are right Bounty. 2500 cargo limit isn't available in unmodded servers, so we aren't talking about doing a diamond run with it. We are talking about pirating with normal ships. At least I am.

I tried the organized pirating with a dromedary and another guy with a humpback, while one more guy with an eagle shot the stuff. I was neutral with everyone so I never got stopped by criminals trying to rob me, but my friend was too busy fighting them to haul any cargo. Kinda sucky splitting money with him when he didn't help out that much. The area was blurry with so much loot. I couldn't take it all by myself.

If you organize it well it should work pretty well though. Make sure all of the freighter players are neutral with everyone and that they all understand their job. Otherwise fire them. It does get kinda boring doing the hauling though.

DragonBreath stop smiling so much you are full of Hot Air. lol

in SP, I pulled up a saved game just before I got the Red Hessians to like me(lvl 28) and I went to Rheinland and bought a Banshee. I am using this to be a Pirate in Bretonia and then maybe Kusari. It is working so far, the cargo hold is pretty small but I have recently become a fan of the light fighter. I just beam in the good stuff and take it to where ever I can land then go out for more.

try pirating as soon as possible, in the beginning it's difficult, later it's getting fun while dogfighting there escorts and shoot down sometimes empty transporters and freighters... but it's nice to begin as soon as possible as a pirate

ps. with the white starcruiser is landing a difficult thing...

i like to pirate with my eagle better, also modded,
4 salmanca class 9 guns
2 gaurdian class 10 guns (wanna change in diamondback)
2 diamondback class 10 guns
2 sunslayer torsp launcher (100 ammo)

no mines and countermeasures, since i never used them, also in unmodded i didn't used them, so why shall i have them

but the white starcruiser is fun... traveling around with that big ship in close ratio astroid fields....

I have always found it fun sitting outside of rochester waiting for junkers to leave the base. All but 2 times, when a junker left they were carrying good stuff. Just sit there, wait for it to come out, when they leave kill em i got over 380 diamonds in a short period of time. i sold them to another guy for cheap so he cuold bring em to new tokyo. Or kill mules that have cardimine/artifacts. thats fun too.

I've done some pirating in a Y-Wing. 325 cargo space is enough for high-profit items (like diamonds from Omega-whichever to New Tokyo), and the ability to mount six Class-10 guns and a pair of turrets makes the Y-Wing a great commerce raider. I've got a pair of Diamondbacks and a pair of Thor's Hammer for guns, two Cannonball missiles launchers, and two turrets whose type I don't recall (I believe they're class 8 with a refire rate of 4.00). My college roommate and I tend to do pirating once we've got decent ships in MP, because missions get boring after a while, since they're all one of three types: blow everything up, blow up a base, or blow up a ship and tractor something in. With piracy, you have to sneak through systems and scan ships to find decent cargo. It's more of a challenge, and much more interesting.

u can also go to a hot-spot where always r transporters and freighters , and shoot ur eyes out by killing their escorts and let the transports go... uhm... shoot the transporters and freighters also in millions of peaces

a hot-spot is the kansay research station in honsu (in the middle of a minefield), there r always freighters to kill, but it's also heavily devenced in the minefield... i did it 1 time, i want to go back to that place, but for a good hunt u must be with a cople of other pirates
i think 3 persons will be good, in ur own it's dificult, since the tradeline is the only way in and out... and look out for thus 10 (if i'm right, never count them, so can be more) weap platforms and a base who shoot at u

in sp when i had just finished the story i started a quest to become friends with the outcasts and land on malta (now completed) i had the anubis (which was a bit rubbish) so i sat outside freeport 1 blasting transports that contained engine parts (well acctually thats a lie i blasted all transports and their escorts) than landed on freeport 1 and sold it all... the zoners dont care at all great place to sit and level up

Pirates, pirates, how I delight in hunting your scum down with my Stealthblade equiped Eagle and 10 Hammerheads at my back...(dreamily). I tried pirating in multi-player once, couldn't keep it up, not profitable, made me feel very evil, although it is quite fun at times. The best part was visiting all of the others wise off limits bases, but I far prefer being a good-guy.
