single player help

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

She leaves you alone after you finish the single player game, at level 18.

Um, no. There are many times you can go your own way and do your own thing. many, many, many times.

Minor spoilers:

The best times to break away from the single player campaign (subtitled: what to do while you are ignoring Juni):

First time:
After Juni gives you the access codes to all of Liberty space. Happens around mission 3. At this point you could easily be:
1. A trader in Liberty space,
2. A"bounty hunter" taking missions for the legit factions hunting pirates
3. An Explorer through the entire Liberty space and find the goodys hidden in the dangerous areas.

or some combination of the above. Just doing that takes 20+ hours.

Second Time:
After you and Juni are on the run from Liberty, you can:

1. PIRATE: Go back into Liberty space via the jumpholes and be a pirate for the Liberty Rogues. You can get a freighter in Britania space and then when you have done your dirty deeds (done dirt cheap ) for a while, you can then land on Bactan base and get a Dromedary and be the Pirate extrordinarre.

2. BOUNTY HUNTER: Explore the entire Britannia section and the entire Kusari section in a Britannia heavy fighter, taking missions for cash, landing at different stations and looking for hidden loot in dangerous areas. While you're doing this, land at every station and get good maps so you can move on to the next life:

3. TRADER: Take that Dromedary up and down the tradelanes in Britannia and Kusari trading expensive items and avoiding pirates.

Thats where I am. I still get the mission prompt from Juni every time I launch, but I just ignore it. I've had a BLAST being a pirate for the last few days and I'm going to be a legit trader for a while now.

Juni will wait.

Me no gun

Can't wait until you come back here and say "I can't find Juni, where did she go?"

Plus you will never advance in levels or gain access to more/other systems until you follow the storyline. So sure, you can deviate for awhile and do what you like, if you dont mind staying the same level or staying in the same areas all the time.

ERRRPPPP, wrong answer, but thank you for playing!

When you are on the run from Liberty space the entire universe is open to you. I said that before, but you don't read what I say apparently.

When
you
are
on
the
run
from
Liberty
all
warp points
are
open.

As far as Juni, I have ignored her for 30 hours now. Everytime I launch, she tells me to meet at the Battleship Hood. Could something go wrong with my plan? It hasn't yet. I've you have figured out the problem with "doing your own thing" and the disappearing Juni trick, please enlighten.

As far as not being able to advance, I have a Dromedary and I'm level 11. Yes, you can't buy the uber-ships unless you scream through the SP campaign, but that doesn't mean the game isn't open ended. I can currently buy around 10 different ships at my level, probabaly 4 of them useful.

I have only just got the game 2 days ago and am already got Juni asking me to join her on mission 3, I ignored her for a while and carried on bounty hunting which is a laugh, then I went through to Califorian Minor (got bored of seeing her course tracker always laid in), completed mission 3 to Willard station brought some sweet upgrades and went with Juni to California Minor - Then nothing!!!! Nothing happens I see the 3 Valkyria ships who ignore me, if i attack them they just sit there and then I fail the mission when i kill one, what the frell is going on? what is meant to happen? and what can i do to correct?
PS The ship to ship comms are ok most of the time and same with cut scenes but the rest of the time - lips move but no sound

Stuart, you have a "little" sound problem. There's a sticky at the Technical forum regarding this issue. Take a look at it. It solved my problem.

A way to avoid "Meet Juni at X" mission map and message:

Mark a way point somewhere. Anywhere. It will override the mission waypoints, and get rid of Juni "nagging" at you to join her.

Sometimes, especially when you quit the game and restart, or reload a saved game, your player waypoint dissapears and Juni's mission waypoints show up. No problem, just mark another waypoint somewhere.

When you're ready to get back to the storyline, just open the nav map and "clear all waypoints". The storyline waypoints will show up and guide you back to Juni again (or Hovis, or whoever you need to meet).

Anytime you're given the opportunity to "take on some missions or trade or earn money" between the storyline missions, you can do whatever you want.

You can even go back to Liberty after Mission 3 and become neutral or friendly with Liberty Police, Navy, LSF, etc. Dodge and avoid all contacts (trade lanes are your friends) and go to Colorado. Find Xenos and kill a bunch of them. Eventually LPI, LSF, Navy, and even the Outcasts will become neutral, and the Bounty Hunters, too, if you didn't buy a new ship to throw them off the tracks.

It's a mixed bag, though, because after the next storyline mission they go back to hating you....
