Engine kill.

I have had difficulty mastering engine kill. How is it used? Any tips?

Make sure you're on free flight and hit your afterburners or cruise engines. Cut your engines with the z key and you'll drift. This allows you to spin around and fire while moving in the same direction you were originally traveling in.

Ah... Who needs turrets? (besids freights). Anything else you can do with engine kill?

You can use afterburners with your engines cut in bursts to run away, they'll recharge when they're not in use and you won't slow down much.

Actually, I tried the engine kill/afterburner thing to get away from Rouges, but for some reason, they just kept up. At one point I just had to turn and fight them. But didn't someone say they would just "drift away".

BTW, while playing the demo, I had some Rouge demanding I eject my cargo. Well I did...but then I blew them away and got my cargo back.

I have also had those acts of piracy, (demo)I just say cancel and wait when he comes at me. he is always alone, and I just blow him to minor atoms.

hmm.... is this called engine kill? i think is shutting off or destroying enemies' engines?

Post Thu Mar 13, 2003 4:51 pm

No, they are referring to the Engine Kill button (Z).

The engine kill boutton (z) activates a energy field from the core of your ship that disables all hostile engines within a small radius.
