Keep tapping your afterburner and jinking. That will keep the beams off you. Also, I found that if I got real snug with any of the generators, I could shoot at them unhindered. I suppose this is because of the fact that the various ships and guns can't find an angle on me. Also I drop my mines when close to generators for free easy hits.

I forget how far into the story you are but check your autosaves for the Battleship Osiris. If you have not purchased an Anubis heavy fighter when you were there, then you made life hard. I figured this out after a mission I could not get past. Then I went back a few and found the Anubis. It is really cheap and way better than what I was flying. Get a lot of credits back from the trade too. I passed it up the first time because the price was misleading-ly cheap. :/

Also make sure to get a torpedo launcher and use them at fairly short range.

What is "jinking"?

I'm not sure what they mean but I'm guessing on evasive manoeuvers. Just turn randomly and do it often. Also, sometimes you just need some luck, if you get a bad round you can get really damaged much too fast. Reload and try again.

Jinking = Using your A and D buttons.

Used to describe left/right strafe movements in helicopters and VTOL aircraft.
