Is the rest of the game like this??? (SPOILERS)

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

Okay, I'm only on Mission 3, but it seems to me that all hell is breaking loose EVERY SINGLE TIME I join Junko to do any part of the storyline. I thought I must have passed the really hard bit getting out of Manhattan, but no. We get to the Badlands, and without any chance to rearm, we're surrounded by 20 ships AGAIN!!! If the game keeps being this hard I'm going to give it up. This is not fun, it's agony.

Sounds like you are using the wrong equipment. Get the guide, it'll help. The game is challenging but FAR from impossible.

Its gets a lot harder - Trust me. I wont even talk about missions 10-13

But it does sound like your equpiment. To be honest I found most of the Missions, apart from the last few, quite easy

Do yourself a favor and get a freighter as soon as the SP storyline gives you a break. Ignore Juni and do some cargo runs for a while to earn some $. Then upgrade to the best ship possible as often as possible.

Oh, and be sure to keep a good bit of extra $ on hand. You'll need it for shield batteries and nanobots in the later missions.

It'll still be tough, but you'll be able to get through it.

Actually, I find it kinda ridiculous that you're expected to kill about 20 fellow pilots every mission. I mean not even the Russian pilots in WW2 were that poor.

I found the missions extremely difficult but I wanted to see how the story turned out so I used the cheat code. If you do a search on your hard drive under the Microsoft Games\Freelancer directory you will find an “.ini” file with the name “Options” in it. Sorry but I am at work now and don’t quite remember the file name. Open the file with WordPad or note pad and change the difficulty setting from 1.00 to 0.00. From that point on you will not be spending money on nanobots and shield batteries as all bullets will bounce off (God Mode). You can change it back later if you wish but that is how I got through the story missions without getting overly frustrated. Now the game is fun because I am doing what I wanted to do all along, trade, upgrade and kick b*tt.

pff what are you guys talkin about, the game first couple of missions is REALLY simple, even with the default ship, but its best to get the liberty defender and equip drails, and it wont be too hard... just try to keep with the good guys, cuz if you try to be the bad guys.. well THEN YOU will find a challenge heh

I've looked all over, but can't find the file. Does anyone know what the filename is?

Thanks.
