ITS impossible, mission failed .. about to give up.

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

ITS impossible, mission failed .. about to give up.

I am a lunatic when it comes to saving, I dont save unless I have to exit the game and I never return to a previously saved game. I have a compulsive obsession which leads me to restart many games over and over again until I can beat them in one go...no reloads after deaths or mistakes.

So far after god knows how many hours/days of trying to beat freelancer in one go I cant ....getting the tome which is held by the Japanese Emperor (cant remember his name) always seems to get me (the cruiser guarding the shields is nasty and I dont always get the time to fire enough torpedos)...allthough I´ve managed to get a bit further a couple of times.

Usually its just a mistake because I forget to buy shields at a base or sudden death without time to use shields (only happened twice I think).

I´ve beaten many games the way I play, all the Baldur´s gate series, The first two Fallout games, wing commander 3 and 4 plus many more. I dont know why I have this darn sickness, I wish it would go away.

I only died once or twice in the single player campaign, although I had to reload a time or two after forgetting to resupply. If the arch is your chief difficulty, practice using your strafe controls to fly laterally, and keep the force field between you and the enemy cap ship while you destroy the shield generators more or less from below. Remember to pack a torpedo launcher and plenty of ammunition, and enable it when (and only when) you are fighting stationary targets like these generators.

Best of luck.

Sounds like you finally found a game to challenge your talents. That cant be a bad thing.

Why not get as bit of paper, stick it to the top of your monitor and write "BUY SHILEDS BEFORE YOU LAUNCH!!!" in big letters?

Yeah I do that... my screen is fill with notes like "keep breathing", "piss every 2 hours", "you need water every 3 days", "make sure to eat once in a while"...

I DID IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I finally did it ...after many tries, wow, I am all excited ... now I get to explore the world, but if I die its over so I have to be carefull ..but I ve got plans.

The first thing I did was shooting a heck of a lot of Xenos, leaving me with 2 other bad factions ... corsairs and mollys. This has an easy fix, just blowing up some mollys at the New London system should get the corsairs on my side pretty fast...and I can live with having the Xenos and Mollys as enemies.

Now I am using the traderoute between Planet Kyushu and Manhatten/Mactan base with my Dromodary ... and its safe since there are no corsairs or mollys when using the path through Galileo....I only get once in a while some stupid rogue asking me to drop my cargo, but all he ses is my tail.

I am close to 900.000 and will probably stop at 2.000.000 which is when I will find a decent ship and start exploring.

If you can handle a little risk (and a little outcast l0vin'), there's a trade route I've found that's relatively safe except for Sigma 13.

Buy Diamonds in the New Berlin system (I forget which planet/station sells them cheapest, but I bought from New Berlin itself just for convenience), sell them on New Tokyo, buy Niobium and sell it on The Ring, in orbit of New Berlin. With 250 holds I made like $580,000 round trip. You should be able to make around $700,000 per trip. That'll finance a lot of shield batteries/repairs.
