Where could you get the best shield?

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

Where could you get the best shield?

I'm running out of things to do in Freelancer other than multiplayer, having finished the single player game, levelled up to 38, and visited all the systems and bases listed in Lancers Reactor's Universe Guide - short of the Red Hessian bases and the single LWB base. The Hessians are the only faction hostile to me, yet the LWB base turns hostile to me even though they themselves are neutral.. Ah, must be because LWB is allied to the stupid Hessians. Same when I couldn't land on Lane Hacker bases until I got the Rogues back to neutral.

Anyway, back to the subject.
The one thing I'm not quite happy with is my ship's shield, particularly because I've seen other ships flying around with better equipment.

So, how do you get them, or are they reserved for the computer flown ships?

The ones I've seen with a ship scan:

Adv. Brigandine Positron Shield (Class 10)
SP-e2 "Advanced Brigandine"Positron Shield

This is a positron-based shield that provides improved protection from tachyon and neutron weapons.

Fighter Shield Class: 10
Shield Capacity: 10127
Regeneration Rate: 1
Regen Power Drain: 10

Adv. Barrier Molecular Shield (Class 10)
SM e2 "Advanced Barrier"Molecular Shield

This is a molecular-based shield that provides improved protection from plasma and particle weapons.

Fighter Shield Class: 10
Shield Capacity: 10127
Regeneration Rate: 1
Regen Power Drain: 10

In contrast, the best I could buy for myself is the "Adv. Brigandine H.F. Shield (Class 10)" - oddly enough, the same name as the first one listed above, but with rather different stats:

Adv. Brigandine H.F. Shield (Class 10)

This is a positron-based shield that provides improved protection from tachyon and neutron weapons. This shield is specifically designed for the Heavy Fighter ship classes.

Fighter Shield Class: 10
Shield Capacity: 8280
Regeneration Rate: 184
Regen Power Drain: 10

That over 10 thousand shield capacity sure sounds better, although I'm not sure a regeneration rate of 1 would be useful.

My ship is a Titan (Corsair Very Heavy Fighter). By the way, why is it that most people here on this forum seems to prefer the Sabre instead? The Sabre looked somewhat cheaper and worse on the info sheet, that's why I purchased the Titan instead.

The sabre is preferred because of its better turn rate.

No point in obtaining those shields, the reason they are in the game is to outfit enemies - don't you realise that enemy ships never regenerate their shields, almost? Thats the reason why.

and supposedly your once you lose your shields on your titan, your guns on the hull is mincemeat. pops off fast.

This has been posted somewhere in this forum.

anyway, sabre vs titan is weapons vs armour. Sabre has forward facing turret vs backward facing turret for titan.

besides that the 2600 is peanuts when your opponents are using class 10 weapons.
