Worth the time.....up to you on that. I'm moving to spoiler forum though.

On you're map, you'll see an icon for "mineable zones". Go into one and shoot at the smaller barrel shaped pieces. About one in 15 will produce goods, so keep shooting. You'll probably have enemies coming up to you pretty often though.

Enemies aplenty ( when you are hostile to junkers ad Xenos early on its a pain )

However, you really cant beat the silver you can mine from the early colorado system right beyond the Col-NY jumpgate that sells for 630 in Manhattan
