Best way to avoid combat (In PR demo at least)

I have found that if you want to avoid a fight against NPC ships all you have to do is this:

Afterburn full.
Press Z so you start to slide.
Turn to face the enemy and watch as they disappear.

I'm not sure why they do this but it works everytime time for me.

I think AI calculates trajectories based on the direction of your ship, not only its trajectory =/
