If you fly to the end of a patrol path and there's more to it, it will show as you get closer to it. Try running directly down a partol path and you'll see what I mean. All but about 2% of EVERY patrol path leads to something in Freelancer. Either they connect to another patrol path, or something of interest like a base or jump hole.
Open the NAV map (F6) and click on the little icons at the top of the window that pops up. You should be able to see all the patrol paths if you click on the right one. Either that or you have a corrupted "copy" of Freelancer.
