What ship next?

Posting this in spolier forum just in case.

Currently, I have a Defender (which I hate) and I'm wondering which ship is the most obvious upgrade?

I've completed mission 3 SP and I'm level 6 or 7, don't remember exactly :p

I have also been out and about exploring, finding jump holes etc, and considering how quickly I die in some systems, I need a new ship

the next better one is in Bretonia... but they are so damn ugly

The defender will serve you well for the most part of the game. You can change your ships at Bretonia, Rheinland and at Kusahri, but none of them are that great.

hmm... i think the Bounty Hunter Ships you can get here and there in Kusahri (or was it Rheinland) are not that bad

Hold out til you get to Bretonia and then find a battleship and buy a Crusader. Later, in Kusari, look for a Baracuda (large planets sell it).
