Dear Stinger....

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

Dear Stinger....

My poor twin brother has been aching to tell his Freelancer knowledge to all. He's a true knowledge source here, having been one of, if not the most, active beta testers in the group. So, let's flood my robotic twin with questions on this board. There's information about FL spilling out his ears, and it's getting messy!

So, I present our newest feature on TLR, from our own advice columnist with all the answers DEAR STINGER:

Dear Stinger,

I met this totally cool wingman-for-hire in a bar in the Borderworlds. I bought him a drink, laughed, and got drunk together. Then, only after knowing him for 48 standard terran hours, I hooked him up with my ops. We flew a dozen missions together, and admitedly he managed to score a few kills more than I did on that Bazoomba Mission. But now he wants a raise, and that i owed him more than he deserved; and I explained to him that with the repairs prices and spareparts, a raise would be impossible. He didn't take it lightly and sued. The Mercenary review boards ruled in my favor, clearing me of debts but gave him the Starblazer *I* bought for him! It was a bitter separation for the both of us, but apparently more so to him. I met him again 2 days later. With his new pirate buddies. They blew my parts to smithereens and left me floating here. What would you advise me to do? Dear Stinger, help a distressed (pun intended) Freelancer!

Sincerely,
Almost Dead in Cold Kusari Space

PS: while you're at it, can you call the Kusari Navy and tell them to dispatch a S&R ship? thx!

*Ahem* something like that?

More like "Whats the best way to avoid Lane Hackers?" type stuff I'm also screaming to tell info, though getting the PR beta helped.

Hehe

If in distress in Kusari space, the best thing to do is find a way OUT! Generally speaking the jump holes are your best bet. Careful most bounty hunters and pirates frequent those areas so be on your toes. You have basically three paths to consider. The best choice at this point is to head south toward Shik oku and then into either Kelper or Galileo systems. Keep going back towards Liberty space for some serious credit building and upgrading your ship (or what's left of it). Once you build yourself up, get some bribes, and align yourself with some of those baddies. This is afford you the chance to upgrade some of those really nice Borderworld goodies as you continue to work south into Rheinland space and the next time you meet up with your "friend" and his buddies, fart in the general direction to bait them into a fight. Revenge is best served cold. The other two options are to run to the Tau systems to the West and then south through Leeds. Do not go North from the Tau systesm, death awaits you. This will get you into Britonia space and the realitve safety of a lot of merchants. Get in good with them and pile up the credits. Rinse and repeat the meeting with your buddy and you're good to go. The last choice is to head East directly into the eadge worlds of the Sigma's. This is a dog eat dog world out there but excellent for making some very profitable short cargo runs. Careful, the Corsairs and Outcast roam the areas and don't like the very factions you need to buddy up with to increase you wealth. The 4th choice could be the best, but it is the most risky by far. Head North into the Chugoku system and hope like hell you're on good terms with the Blood dragons. They have excellent weapons for the medium powerful pilot, but they are a cagey group that tend to be on drugs most of the time. Unpredictable to say the least. Any choice will do Fear Factor, but pick a direction and stick to it. Jump ho's are your friends!

Stinger out.

Maybe this should be moved to the spoiler forum? Possibly? I could be wrong.

I actually made that up, LOL. But I don't know if Stinger's thoughtful reply is also just a figment of imagination.

To use the jump holes is there some kind of jump drive that one must buy from the borderworlds or does one simply fly into them when one finds them?

Post Sun Feb 09, 2003 4:18 am

You just fly into it. Sorry, stealing your thunder Stinger

Post Sun Feb 09, 2003 4:20 am

well, you have to "dock" with it like any other jump gate or landing ring and yer not stealing anything Tach...especially when you get it wrong (jk)

Well I didn't want to put down his intelligence by assuming that he wouldn't know the difference when he got the game.

Dear Stinger,

Can you talk about the mystery of the 5th house? Does it come up at all ?

Post Tue Feb 11, 2003 5:35 am

The 5th house....oh yea.

The 5th house was Hispania. There is some strong indication it made the long trip like the rest of the houses. There are plenty of references to it from numerous NPC's. There's even a place in the Borderworlds where the mystery becomes a little clearer. Call it a reward for being strong enough to survive that dog eat dog world. There is quite a "mini story" behind the Hispania in FL. I won't reveal all the details here, but rest assured, Hispania house references are "all over" the galaxy.

The mystery that revolves around the Hispania...some things you just need to see for yourself.
