Puzzled about rep...

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

Puzzled about rep...

Hi, just a quick question. I thought that if I "terminated" a few Red Hessians that would boost my rep with the other factions but this doesn't appear to be so. Here's what happened.

I'm playing the OpenSP mod and at level 23. My rep is rock bottom with Mollys, GC, Outcasts, Unioners, Red Hessions, Junkers, etc. As I was in the Sigma systems I thought, per a suggestion that I heard here, I'll take a few missions against the Red Hessians to boost my rep with others as everyone hates them. Well, actually they are allied to the LWB, but hey...

I took three missions in New Berlin? and Stuttgart but this made no diff. So I thought, perhaps it's just fighting but not missions and as I was doing a few trading runs thru the Sigma systems I get to terminate a dozen or 15 Red Hess. Stilettos - still no change in rep.

I had the impression when I played the plot that taking out e.g. Corsairs in Cambridge and Red Hessians in the Sigma system, boosted my rep with their enemies - e.g. I went from hostile to the bounty hunters to neutral.

Also, in a similar vein, I took several missions in Tau-31 for the bounty hunters vs. the outcasts, to get very friendly with the B.H. then paid the 150k bribe to be friendly to the outcasts, then dropped by planet Malta and picked up a couple of 120k missions against the B.H. that reduced my rep with the B.H. to neutral so I still get a net gain.

So in the normal game it seems that killing one faction boosts my rep with their enemies but in OpenSP there seems to be no effect. Any ideas? or have I got the wrong impression about how rep is increased / decreased?

It takes kiling more than 15 to change your rep by any significant amount, so keep killing them and allies
