Sizes of solar systems / map scale

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

Sizes of solar systems / map scale

Hi,

Could someone post the length and width of each solar system? This knowledge would be invaluable for calculating trade routes, for then one could determine the amount of time it should take to travel from one place to another, without having to take the time to do it manually.

Or if there is already a list of solar system sizes somewhere, could someone post a link to it?

I'm guessing that someone who knows how to read the coded .ini files could pull this information from them very easily.

Thanks and best wishes.

The size of each system (as seen on the Nav Map) varies from system to system. For example, Tau-37 is much smaller than average, as are a couple more of the Edge Worlds. You could easily figure this out for yourself though - grab yourself a cruise speed mod, then just go to the edge of each system and note how far you are from the sun.

Or get a program that calculates the routes. Do that run, not engaging hostiles, and time how long it takes you. That would give you an average time for that number of systems, and you can divide it or multiply it depending on how many systems your next route goes through.

I'm betting that when you factor in risk, profit, distance traveled and everything else, you're going to come up with a result that tells you no matter what you trade, where you go, or even what ship you get, every trade route in Sirius will give you a roughly equal profit margin.

As an example, taking Water from Manhatten to Pittsburgh and bringing back Boron however many times you can in the time it would take to go from New Berlin to New Tokyo and back once would probably net you the same profit you'd have if you did said run instead.

Of course it's more FUN evading advanced Corsair and Outcast pirate groups than it is shrugging off Rogue lasers waiting for the lane to reestablish, but whatver floats your boat.

Well, you could go by the rule that capitol systems are usually the largest such as New York. Then the next largest are the house systems surrounding the capitol system like Leeds. Then border worlds, and the Edge Worlds are the smallest. House systems and some border worlds systems have trade lanes which shortens travel times.

Then again, consider how wonked proportions are in game & it is a moot point.
What is spoken of in dialogue as taking days {which it would in reality} takes only minutes. Which reinforces how moot size is.

People in the game say that journeys take days because that's more realistic. The actual journeys take mere minutes because that's more fun. You wouldn't want to spend days just to get your load of Cardamine back to Manhattan, but seeing other people say "I just completed my thirty minute patrol of six star systems" is ridiculous.

A basic rule of thumb, systems with tradelanes will be much larger then those without.

Actually I just realized something. FL explorer shows the scale of a system.

omega-7 is the smallest system, just for info. i think its only 40-50k across.

the largest system is probably NY, being about 150-200k across.

Nope, Tau-37 and Omicron Beta are the smallest at about 60k accross. Omega-7 is 80k accross.
