Stuck in a rut.

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

Stuck in a rut.

I also play FL in OpenSP and that always starts you at Plant Manhatten. Now I always start of by taking on missions for the Manhatten bar which always ends up with me playing as the good guy killing of the pirates all the time and working for all the police and security agencies.

Now I want to try the shoe on the other foot and be a pirate for change in OpenSP so can anyone advice me on the best way of becoming a pirate in OpenSP ie where do I need to go and how do I get in with the pirates without them shooting me to hell as soon as I go near their bases.

thats easy.land on a base save your game, use ioncross editor and then change your location to any of the pirate bases, ex: buffalo base in NY. then goto the factions rep coloumn and improve your rep with liberty rogues, lanehackers and outcasts, decrease your rep with liberty navy and lsf and LPI. this shuld make you an evil dude.

Cheers ittan but I was hoping there was a way of doing it without using any programs to change things in my favour.

As a add-on to my first question are there any MODS that will enhance being a pirate when I become one.

Well, to get in with pirates, you're going to have to try and have to research a bit on which factions hate who. Best thing to do is kill some bounty hunters. That way, you're bound to have some criminals on your side. + at Junker bases, you can get bribes for rogues, which opens up a pathway to other criminals. =)

And regarding mods to enhance piracy, I got nothin'. Sorry. =/

A quick way to do this is, straight from P. Manhatten, is to shoot up the police storage containers. This takes a chunk out of your good-guy status, plus you can get a few $$$ by hoovering up what comes out of the containers. Sell at Detroit Munitions.

Reload and repeat. Two or three goes at this and you can dock at Buffalo Base and start behaving like a Rogue.

why dont you make a mod. i will post it later on and i will make it for you. soon i will send it to you.

samedhi_13 is right. The two storage depots near planet Manhatten belong to the LPI. Destroy them, and you'll be neutral with the rouges. Dock with Buffalo, get a bribe, and start taking missions from the criminals.

Incidentally, I noticed that some storage containers in Tau 29 (Next to the Tau 31 Gate Construction Site) contained construction parts (52). You can sell them at Malta for a $1,000/unit.
When I looked into the purposes of the storage containers I realized that they were necessary for the surrounding processes. Since my Freelancer doesn't work properly, I was wondering whether anyone here could check out the storage containers in Tau 31, along the unfinished trade lane to Planet Harris, to see if they contain any construction equipment. I suppose that the possibility of gaining an almost regular supply of valuable construction machinery to sell to a nearby location would be a useful cash route. If the case is true, experience haulers can make quite alot of money off the route.

You guys are forgetting the most fun way: actual pirating. Park yourself in the middle of a trade lane and shoot at the ring till its energy goes down all the way. Then any trains that are using that lane will stop before reaching the ring, and then their loot is your for the taking. Pick up what you can and punch it, because after convoys get blown up, the police and those bloody bounty hunters will enivatbly come sniffing around.

Here hold my pint while I steer the ship. Of course I'm kidding you stupid bloak, you think I'd trust you with the beer?

Why do that? Just wait for the transports to come to the planets. More loot that way. (More traffic=more loot)

I think airport was asking about being piratical when starting from scratch in OpenSP. For me, that means replacing the Starpants you get at the start as soon as possible and not being red with the local criminal factions.

After looting the LPI storage containers a few times, I'd sell all my equipment (and I mean every single thing) at Detroit Muntions and buy firearms, sell them at Montezuma Base (Cortez), buy Cardamine, sell that at P. Manhatten. This leaves you neutral with the criminals and with enough money to buy a Dagger at Buffalo Base.

You're behaving like a criminal right from the start and are quickly in a position to get on with the hijacking, pillaging, looting, etc.
