Remains of Freeport 7

i happen to believe i have found the remains of freeport 7. damn i had it written down. wait here it is, sector sigma 17 grid reference 3E. anyway the debris i see in the picture matches what freeport 7 looks like in the Singleplayer intro

very interesting that would be quite a long trip from there to liberty.... let alone manhattan

I haven't seen them myself but I think that's quite likely it. I just had a look in the Sigma 17 INI file and there's loads of debris around that area.

oh boy, here we go again. Next thing you know someone enters and tells us that FP7 was a system on its own. You just mark my words, someone will.

Anyway, Finding FP7 was a great discovery for me, I even took a screenie of it

The Question is why didn't the FP7 survivors end up in Kusari, it's closer to the Sigma-17 system than Liberty.

Post Sat Jul 03, 2004 5:10 am

They went to liberty because that was the way the story was written. Logic was not involved.

Post Sat Jul 03, 2004 5:17 am

FP7 was in a system built for itself.

Post Sat Jul 03, 2004 6:33 am

you did that just to make nickless right didnt you!

but yeah thats definately freeport 7 i mean theres the main docking bays the remains of the farming pods and a whole bunch of other debris. Oh nickless can you post that Screenie by any chance?

and i took a load of screenies, where can i find them? what file?

Hah, I told you

Something like that anyway. try a search for the term freelancer shots on your hard disk.

if you still can't find it, I'll post mine.

Yes, the debris of Freeport 7 are indeed in Sigma-17, near to the Cryer Research Base and not far from the Jump Gate to Sigma-19. If you look carefully the intro scene, you'll notice there are 3 suns in the background "behind" Freeport 7. I believe Sigma 17 is the only system in Sirius with a 3 sun configuration.

Anyway, found the debris myself so that's where they are.

I wonder if someone made a mod with a rebuilt Freeport 7, I'd be curious to visit...

This is probably like 'the simpsons' house, its never really able to explain where everything is.

Funny, I've always had a pretty good mental image of the SImpson's house's layout. Going clockwise from the front door, there's the foyer, front room (picture window), TV room, kitchen, dinner room, then back to the foyer.

Just wondering.... Why would Liberty Navy defenders escort a transport out of Freeport 7 and millions of lightyears away from their own bases? And why would it take two weeks to get to Liberty. I mean, why Liberty? If they were looking for some sort of capital or power, surely New Tokyo would've been sensible since the wounded were in critical condition. I realise it's all for story purposes but that was kinda bugging me. See what you guys think

Post Mon Jul 05, 2004 1:03 am

because that would screw up the storyline and the power structure:

1) liberty
2) bretonia
3) Kusari
4) rheinland
5) order
6) Hispania (Corsairs, Outcasts)
7) Nomads

as for the wreck of FP7, yes:

those are all the seperate components of the FP7 wreck in BW06, or sigma-17.
Its not really that spectacular, just looks like the station went hawire after some pretty wacky incomplete manufacturing job...

Liberty Does too have a presience there! I have seen it myselfe! I have screenies but don't know how to post them, i did find the dibris though. A rumor on the other side of the galaxy, lets see, hmm, oh yes! i donno the name but were you can buy a Hammarhead. wich reminds me, How can i buy an eagle with-out getting a better ship first? it tackes the ship sold at Malta to get thru the radiation and enimies alive weather i am a pirate or not. The only other way would be to go thru the corsair worlds, allowing me to get a titan if i survive and am a pirate.

Whoa, whoa, whoa! Slow down the train there (no pun intended): did you mean to say that you heard the rumor about the Liberty Navy being in Sigma-17 at Freistadt Base (Omega-7 system)?

The only way that I could see the Liberty Navy being involved in Sigma-17 would be either to (a) control the Alien Organisms/Artifacts coming from the Omicron systems, (b) they were stationed there as some sort of deterrent to prevent a violation of the Boorman Treaty (which forbid Rheinland to enter the Sigma systems), or (c), they were part of the conspiracy that drives the plot of the campaign.

To check the rumors, I did fly out to Sigma-17 and loitered near the debris field (which does indeed exist). I failed to encounter a single Liberty Navy vessel, but I did encounter plenty of Cryer Pharmaceutical vessels ...
