Is Ignorance Bliss

Is ignorance bliss or are the House military and police totally incompotent?

Consider this: Been in Sirius like 200 years and yet they still profess to NOT know where the Holes are or some of the pirate bases. The BH & pirates all still act like it's hush-hush don't tell a soul; not even your Mother.

I mean how hard would it be to follow someone to a hole. Or, heaven forbid, be creative enough to let a pirate escape & put a tracer in his ship. Or more simply put one on a BH ship that is being serviced or parked somewhere.

So, with that being the case during the last 150 years the pirates should have massed a large enough force to conquer any House system they so choose. Which, IMMHWO, would provide a much better plot than the pablum we were feed. OK. OK, it was not all that bad just a real woosy ending.

Bounty Hunter do tell people about hole positions but generally the Navy, Police and Civilians stay away from the holes since they are 'dangerous' . I don't know why the navy haven't flushed out the pirate bases that they know about yet.

jump holes arent unstable, if anything, they are MORE stable than jump gates.

think about it: a Jump gate requires a MASSIVE amount of energy, channeled through a HUGE structure, to generate a SMALL and TEMPORARY route to another system relatively CLOSE to where the gate is.

Jump holes, on the other hand, are SMALL, require NO outside energy support, are PERMANENT, and have the potential to cover HUGE distances much easier than gates (look at the Omicron Theta to Omicron Gemma hole, one side of sirius to the other).
Plus, Holes dont have those annoying defensive turrets shooting at you when your waiting to dock, jump holes dont even have qeues, because they can be entered from any side, gates, on the other hand, can only by docked from ONE side.

plus the texas incident, that was a GATE, i personally dont use gates unless its the fastest route, usually holes present a much more appealing journey

yes there is nothing more full filling than taking jump holes. easier to use when u have ships on your tail. u usually have to wait for the gate to the open.

While it is rare, Jump Holes do, occasionally, have queues. On more than one occasion, and typically when I'm being chased by bounty hunters, I've had to do some temporary evasive maneuevres while a dawdling Outcast or Corsair has been in the middle of docking with a jump hole I planned to use for escape.

Jump holes are bound to have queues, if you think about it. Just like lawful corporations create queues at gates, criminals would create them at holes. I don't know if that actually happens in the game, but it's what would happen for real, because the criminals can't exactly waltz up to the gate and go through

Tis so very true & right. More than once have I been placed in line. Oft times hitting the hole would have to wait till the ner-do-wells were dispatched or avoided until jump could be consumated.
