Actually, the 'unknown' is at the centre of the sun, rather than right next to it. I've checked it using the difficulty zero ini hack, and regardless of what side you approach, you always bounce off the surface of the sun's sphere before you get to the 'unknown'. Looking at it using the object scanner of your left-hand display shows nothing, so it's not even a jumphole.

It's interesting that the map shows two white sun objects, but that you can only see the one. Maybe if all the 3D settings are switched off, both spheres would be more plainly visible. I shall investigate…

Any ideas out there? Another example of the unfinished storyline, perhaps (like the monkey and robot planet)?

I have also noticed the unknown object by the lower sun in Tau-37. Oh, and about the suns, the other sun is actually above the one you were talking about. That's why it appears to be crashing into the other sun in the navmap. They're not actually making contact.

ya its strange thanks for the comments , ill see what else i can find out about it. even if it is the center of the sun why would it appear as Unknown ? only other unknowns are - jumpholes,some wreaks in omega systems .
could it be a jump hole to a secret system ? or could it be a simple wreak that drifted into the sun area with out being destroyed? or could it be a secret Nomad base waiting for the right time to attack? or could it be the creators of the nomads hiper gate ? it might all add up some day , but i dont know what it is .

you COULD just delete the two suns using FL explorer and THEN have a look...

it there to create the rings you see.
There's one in Frankfurt (center of the rings) and in Shik.oku (center of the rings)
