freelancer cheat, dont work

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

freelancer cheat, dont work

The Freelancer cheat where you can become invonruleble (excuse my spelling) dont work!
It says, and I quote
God mode
Find ''perfoptions.ini'' in the My Documents/My Games/Freelancer folder, and find this line:

DIFFICULTY_SCALE = 1.00

Replace it with

DIFFICULTY_SCALE = 0.00...

...and you are invulnerable to everything.

THIS DONT WORK FOR ME!
Please help me figure it out.

here ya go. you have to use that for the INI file. you might want to ask sombody else how to use it cause i havent tried any of the newer ini editors (i prefer the old fashioned uncompressor)

Your not trying to use it in multiplayer are you?

Two notes:
- It does not work on MP (and I should hope that you would never hope of doing such a thing )
- And that NPC's can still damage shields but the only thing that is invunerable is your hull.

Blaze, when I tried that my shields were invulnerable as well - they never went down at all...

When i tried it, it worked perfectly. In fact, in the storyline, i destroyed all the nomads that were chasing u. Its fun.

I, personally, like to do it the other way around. I switch it to 2.00 !!!

I once gave my friend false information about how to make yourself invincible when he was new to FL...I think he was playing on something like 50...

thanks!
I don't like cheating in games but sometimes you just gotta, right?

Post Wed May 19, 2004 2:13 pm

No . Actually, I've never found it necessary to cheat in FL. Still, under some circumstances (eg. high radiation areas), invulnerability would come in handy.

Depends on POV. For some games/individuals it is a necessary aide due to several factors. Some of those: Egregiously Cheating AI Extremly Difficult Situation
Limited Skills

When required I have little difficulty using an assistant to get past a most difficult situation. Especially if that is the only way to get through the game. There are some games that I have given up on simply because I found no way to get past a specific mission.

I know there are not many out there that do not have this difficulty. But having to do the same mission 4/5/6 or more times goes from enjoyment to tidium to frustration to giving up. So, that is when an assistant is greatly appreciated. And if you want to take it to the purest form, one would need to eschew using Strategy Guides because they provide insight on how to play and win.

It is hard to soar with eagles when you fly with turkeys.

It's a fun way to romp through parts of the game you've already played if nothing else.

I think it's ok to change the Difficulty Scale to 0.00 after you've done SP a few times. You can also use certain tools downloadable from this site to give you 'special things' right from the first mission...

Just to be sure, I look into every game I buy to make sure it has a secondary way to get around 'certain things'. :p

For the most part, I don't cheat in games until I really, really have to. I cheat in games, because I just like running or flying around and blowing stuff up without any harm to me. I know there's no challenge, really, but I think it's a lot of fun. But that's how I play. Some games are so darned easy you don't need to at all.

i agree with people who just 'wants to try a cheat' or 'cant help it'
but then again, why make it 0.00 when you can make it 100.00
thats what i play in

damn, my ship blew up, hope insurance covers it...
