Here's another one to add to the discussion: I made about $80,000 by running luxury consumer goods from Manhattan to Ainu Depot (Hokkaido system) in an Anubis.

Beware: the hard part of the trip is going through either Galileo or Keppler, because of the Lane Hackers/Corsairs. I prefer Keppler, because it's a shorter trip and if I get caught in the open I can run for the base.

I myself if i'm ever starting out a new game, buy a rhino and fill up with I think it was luxury consumber goods, then head to new london, sell up. then from new london, I fill up with Luxury food and take it back to manhatten.
And then i just start the trade over again.

get a drone fly to birmingham in manchester. buy polymers from there. goto california minor sell it there come back with terraforming gases. its a steal.
you get lots of cash....

Solarius Station: Omega-11 system

The prices for diamonds at Solarius are lower than those of New Berlin ($219 at Solarius, $198 at Freital base [a Red Hessian facility). If you want to try mining in the system's asteroid belt, try to stay on good terms with both sides.

WARNING: Radiation is present throughout the entire system, courtesy of the local sun. Make sure that you are carrying a full load of nanobots before entering the system.

ALSO: Omega-11 isn't accessible via the standard jump gate. The jump hole is located just south of Briesen Mining Station (Omega-1: Edge Worlds).

TIP: If you want to cut down on your costs for repairs, unmount some of your weapons before entering the system. For mining I took off everything except my thruster, shield, countermeasure and mine launchers, and three Reaper mk II. If you're on good terms with everyone then don't expect any serious fighting.

Early on in a MP game, I did the Los angeles to Freeport 4 run with Engine Components...U make a nice bit of profit on that for beginners...and its 2 trade lanes and 1 jump gate...for a bit of extra profit u can go to Denver but that takes time...

there is a trade route that no body would even dream of using.

Running diamonds from Freiburg to New Tokyo nets me 1342/ton or 234850 per trip in a Drone.

I will then run Engine Components to Cambridge for 1050/183750, then deadhead it to Cardiff, pick up a load of Beryllium and take it to Freiburg for a paltry 756/132300.

Sum total is 3148 per tone... or 550900 for a quick trip around the Sirius Sector -

Not bad for about an hour's work!
