beat hovis

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

beat hovis

is there a cheat to complete this mission? I can not beat hovis at all.Help

Yes, there is a cheat in the downloads section but why? The race is easy. Make sure you're in cockpit mode(1st person). Do not use the "go to" command. Hit your cruise engines and stay on Hovis' tail, don't worry about getting ahead. He screws up late in the race. A little past the halfway point there is one bad spot. You need to do a sharp left followed by a sharp right. Remember where that is. When the Platforms start firing on you just ignore it and finish the race. Though I never have, there are people who have won this in freighters. Personnally, I've won it with every fighter in the game, from Starflier to Titan.

Just yesterday I beat it with ease.

I was piloting a Legionnaire at the moment, and I didn't even see Hovis during the race...

And I'd suggest 3rd person mode, since you can see the next ring better.

i found it really hard at first when i came to do the race, it was one of those really annoying things , you no its real easy but u just cant do it! like sum person made up "if at first u dont suceed try n try again" n if that dont work on the batleship hood theres a ship buy it as a last option if this doesnt work! this is what i did:
at the start grid it counts down and then a box appears before u click ok get ready to hit the tab button straigt away(or what ever ur afterburners are) click ok, hit the button hold it down for a slight moment while you start ur cruise engines (ctrl+w) then i found it easier to press backspace to minimise the HUD and just keep making slight alterations to ur direction so u can fly thru the hoops and near the end hovis slows down where u can take over but then rite near the end u get fired upon ignore it and breeze past and then get the information off hovis WELLDONE uve done it!

welcome to the forums, but next time do a search for "hovis" or "race" in the forum search options. lots of posts on this already.

thats 3 hovis posts in the last 3 or 4 days... doesnt ANYONE set their forum view on "show posts from the last 30 days"? forum search? i know the 30 days thing takes a while to load on 56k, but if u load it once and leave cookies alone it should load quickly from then on.

utilize strafing... it can keep u goin in a straight line, and the shortest distance from point A to point B is a straight line! also, put on cruise as soon as u can. hold down shift during the cinematic before. as soon as u can play, just hit W if u wanna shave off a millisecond or 2

Orillion: So trent, will you help us with the mission?

Trent: Sure, as long as I'm not shot at, knocked out, held at gunpoint, electrocuted, skewered alive by giant alien shapeshifters, have to dive out windows, or fight off spindly nomad incubi.

Lower your graphics settings first, and you should have an easier time winning. The lower your graphics settings, the higher your framerates, and the better your ship will respond to your commands.

The bigger your ship is, the more you may need to "lead" your turns- that is, turn slightly ahead of where the race gate is so that you're facing the right direction when you get to it. Don't turn too wide or too sharp, or you'll bounce off...and if that happens, you can pretty much write off the race.

Never use the GoTo command, as it will shut off your cruise as you pass each waypoint.

There's a reason why the Hood sells a Cavalier instead of the Bretonian HF- this race is infinitely easier in a smaller vessel. You don't need to have a ship that turns on a dime(many have completed the race in a freighter), but it will make for less frustration if you're having problems with this bit.

i don't know why but for me its more easy to beat hovis in Dromedary and Sabre that light Fighter..

If you get tottally desperate, modify your thruster so it does not use power much and then stay on the thruster rather than the cruise engen. It helps more because you can let off the thruster and almost stop to avoid over shooting the rings. I lave hoivs behind after the 3rd ring.

So, you've beat Hovis in a fighter, eh? Now try a Drom .

It's prolly easier in Freighters and VHFs because you can't overturn as easily as you can in a Fighter or Elite.

@ShiftViper5

yes.. you right..
first time i use cavalier.. i make 10+ try to win that race..
but i win its at the first try when i use sabre and drom..

I've beat him using a Dragon. It's a Kusari Light fighter and it turns really well.

Cathc ME if you can!

No, just...no.

The Dragon is the Kusari Heavy fighter (aka 'Elite'). The Drake is the Kusari Light Fighter (aka 'Fighter'). I'm not sure which one you mean, probably the Drake (because of the statement that it turns well), but the Dragon is not a Kusari Light Fighter.
