The Race

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

The Race

Greetings and good afternoon!
Obviously for all of you the "race" portion is fairly easy, however, for me it has been a problem. What is the best way to win the race?
Yes, I immediately go to the cruise engines when we start, but is there a better way of handling the race?
Recoomendations would be very, VERY much appreciated!
Thank you in advance 8)

This topic is a perennial one and you will find a lot of old posts regarding it if you search the forum. The best piece of advice I ever got was to switch to cockpit view (Ctrl+V) before docking with the Hood.

Just make sure you have a good ship and than play it 'till you beat it.
@Mods- Please could you find a way of stopping this constant stream of Noobs from repeating the same pointless question over and over and over...

Getting tired of typing this. There is only one problem area. A little past the halfway mark you have to do a sharp turn to the left and then back right again. Remember where it is and be ready for it.

make good use of strafing! it can shave that extra few tenths of a second! if theres a turn comin up, dont just turn to the next ring, strafe to it! it can help keep u moving in a straighter line. turning slows u down (i dont mean by the speed in FL i mean turning slows u down in ANY race)

Orillion: So trent, will you help us with the mission?

Trent: Sure, as long as I'm not shot at, knocked out, held at gunpoint, electrocuted, skewered alive by giant alien shapeshifters, have to dive out windows, or fight off spindly nomad incubi.

Don't worry about what ship you have, it's not important at all. I managed to do it in a Clydesdale first time.

Thank you for your responses.

FYI - I may be new to the game, however, I am not new to researching forums. I thoroughly reviewed the forums for something that addressed the racing issue, but as one of your members pointed out, there is nothing.

Patience works alot better...
