I think it's Pygar. The picture is named 'Syd flies away' so maybe it's a deleted cutscene where the artifact gets stolen? Worth a try

The bonus DVD with the Freelancer soundtrack album includes an unused intro where Sinclair first gets her hands on the artifact and then it is stolen. Based on what we are told in the game, the artifact came from Pygar but this scene, as I recall, doesn't identify the planet. The archaeological dig looks identical to the one on Sprague, but the aboveground installation is different.

Pygar shows up as Zoners planet on your HUD, but on the Nav Map it shows up as Pygar. I'll have to check out that DVD, if it exists, so maybe you could tell me where I can get it!

I think Syd is the name of the Artifact smuggler who gets shot on the Manhattan landing pad, then Juni swoops in and saves the day, but I doubt his name is Syd, I think that's just a pun invented by a bored Bargib

Syd is actually the name of the thief. He never introduces himself to Trent by name ("I'm a thief, Mr. Trent" but after the escape from the New York system, you can talk to a guy in the bar on Mactan Base who knew him as Syd.
