How much does rep hacking hurt?

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

How much does rep hacking hurt?

How much more unpopular does hacking your reputation make you? I need to hack my rep with the Corsairs, but I don't want the whole of Bretonnia attacking me if I fly through. Halfway, 1/4, what?

well, when u hack ur rep, its all or nothing. heres how it works:

when you get a bribe for your rep with the corsairs, you cant actually choose how far you want to hack it. It will put your rep with the corsairs at the VERY EDGE of "friendly". you will notice that before the name of the faction turns green (or red) signifying a friendly/hostile reputation with them, there is a large neutral zone. the next thing you do to the faction will either turn you rep to neutral with them (but still vewry far up on the green end) or make you a bit more friendly with them. and if u are friendly with the corsairs, just about everyone in bretonia will be hostile with u ... even the outcasts. so be careful.

Rep hacks will not necessarily destroy your rep with other factions, but it will take it down a little bit...if you are friendly with outcasts and then take a hack for corsairs, you will find a few bars missing from your outcast rep. It may or may not still be friendly, though.

You CAN accept more than one bribe for a faction, and while one bribe won't top off your rep with them, two certainly will. But then the opposing faction's rep will be somewhere around midline neutral.

I've been allied with Outcasts, Bretonia Police and Navy, and Corsairs. That was until I started raiding Bretonian convoys for some spare cash. Hacking your rep wont take you down as far as it puts you forward. Maybe its an even thing, for instance then number of bars your rep goes up, it goes down the same, but is divided between the factions who'll now hate you more.
