How to install mods?

I downloaded "firebase ships mod" and extract it in freelancer folder,but there is no new station with new ship! is there a way to install it?

If it is in *.zip.flmod format then you can use FLMM to activate it easily. If not, then zip it and add .flmod and it will be in FLMM format.
