Unanswered questions

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

Unanswered questions

Here's something i've often wondered about. I'm hoping it's not been asked too many times already, i couldn't see it asked elsewhere, apologies if it's been done to death-

How did the Sleeper ships get to Sirius in the first place? Did they take jump holes or is there some other means of traveling from system to system (maybe very large ships can jump unaided, Babylon 5 style. That would explain how the Osiris reaches otherwise unreachable systems during the plot) If they took jump holes then surely the route back to Earth would be traceable (unless the holes subsequently collapsed)

Oh and this get's me thinking, In 800 years how come the Coallition has never found the colonies? Maybe they found somthing else (i.e. the Nomads) first?

*Checks to see if anyone else is around* Ok, I'll field this one.

I do not recall any definite references to the journey of the Sleeper Ships, however my assumption is that they were travelling at cruise speed, and that the journey took them a considerable amount of time to reach Sirius at that speed. This would explain why the intro shows the crew being placed into suspended animation.

As for the Coalition, there is actually an extended opening sequence that was released as a trailer that explains what happens. Essentially, the Nomads cause a supernova which wipes out them out. As I understand it, the opening movie was trimmed in FL's general release to leave the Nomad ships out, because it would "spoil" the plot line of FL. The extended trailer is very good actually, but the download is 50mb. The file is hosted on TLR but unforunately, I cannot provide you with a link.

So Earth no longer exists? Wow. Well that's a shame.

OK well here's another one- What exactly was the mysteries disaster in the Texas system? Did an experimately type of jump gate blow up or some such?

Wrong. The fate of Earth is UNKNOWN. It might still exist and under Coalition rule. The trimming of the trailer is not to avoid spoilers, but because the background story has been CHANGED. As of now, the canon stands that Earth is alright, unless an expansion pack or sequel picks up the story and says otherwise.

Your second question contains spoilers, and I'll move it to the spoilers forum so that others can answer freely.

Well , thats good , look how many people bought it !

Why would the Coalition want to find the colonies ? They already have Sol system.

I suspect Sol System is a combination of too small and blown derelict (after all there was a very long war) for the Coalition to be staisfied. IF the caolition still exist (probably), they surely would have expanded to Alpha Centauri etc. (incidentall, Sol System is wrong, it is reall the Milky Way surely )

As a freelancer one encounters some strange stuff - in the the end, however, you always remain the strangest thing you are ware of.

Actually, Sirius, Sol, and the Centauris are all located in the Milky Way, since it is a GALAXY .

Papa_Megaman: I stand corrected (I'm actually sitting).

In that case, there are millions of so-called galaxies in reality (yes that place again) - so DA have infinite possibilities for expansion (yes, that topic again). Can someone answer this then, does Sirius really exist (is there a galaxy or part of space really called Sirius?

Sirius is a star, that is astronomically speaking, fairly close to sol.

I believe someone came to the conclusion that the sleeper ships launched in the general direction of the Sirius star system. They called it the Sirius Expedition I think. When the colonists arrived they just named the whole sector Sirius, since they prolly wanted to give names to the local stars themselves.

If they named the Sirius sector after the star Sirius, there would probably a Sol sector too.
(Probably the one below Sirius on the map)

EDIT: This gives me the thought that the next 'lancer game could be another war between the coalition and the alliance, perhaps with the nomads interfering too.

Here's the link to the trailer. I never saw it, so I had to DL it.

http://www.lancersreactor.com/dlfiles/flintro.zip

It's approximately...51.1 MB.

Hmm.. something that bothers me:
The 100 years war that takes place in StarLancer, they're fighting over Earth's Solar System.

In about 800 years, in the Sirius Sector, the grasp of man kind is on 30+ Solar Systems. Look at your nav map, each diamond is a star, the center of a solar system. Has the techknology improved that much that we can jump from star to star? Then what about Going back to earth? Or an adjacent Sector.

I just watched the 51 meg movie/trailer. Earth is Gone. Earth's solar system is gone. The nomads forced the sun to go nova. It wasn't a super nova. Earth's sun is too small for a super nova. If it was super, then there'd be a possiblity of a black hole. Anyways.

So the coilition is gone, for good. So are the nomads, we destroyed their home base. Now I'm sure there can be a sequal of another alien race, as the Nomads are like the oldest [if not, then very old race that we know of.
Anyone ever play Privateer? The first one was the BEST ^_^. I wana find some stealTek drones.
