do the impossible!

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

do the impossible!

i dont know how, or who is crazy enough to try it, but would it be at all possible to do a 245k mission in a starflier? i mean people do it in defenders, so take it down a few notches! If you were a good enough pilot, you wouldnt get hit, but would the damage output be enough to combat the sheildbatteries and sheild regen of the enemies?

just a crazy thought from a crazy guy.

Ask T-Hawk, he's done the ENTIRE campaign in a Rhino(I still don't know how he did it)

It most certainly IS possible to do 245k missions in a Starflier...it's one of the top three ships in maneuverability. The firepower may be a bit lacking, but since AI shields don't regenerate anyway, it's actually somewhat easy. Try arming it with mines and stunpulses.

u need a missile launcher for better hull-damage and a stunpulse for better shield damage... so u still have a 1 spot for gun...

u need to be very good with mines...
with 2 shot's ur death...

i think that it is the easiest from malta, from where i did also 245k missions in the dagger

i think it is a little to div

-edit
i will try later wanna look for adventure from malta

The campaign is doable in a Rhino or Starflier (I've done both) because you almost always have several friendly ships around to help draw fire. Flying 240k missions by yourself is a bit harder...

Personally, I've never tried to fly high-end missions in anything lighter than a Drake. It's certainly possible with any ship (especially if it's an assassination mission and the target appears in the first wave). You would just have to do a LOT of running and dodging. Shoot enemy a couple times until your shield goes down, then do the thruster-enginekill getaway, which the agile Starflier can do very quickly.

The Defender is able to do the high-end missions because 1) it has enough hardpoints to mount two or three Stunpulses, and 2) it can use torpedoes. Using only one Stunpulse and a Slingshot would be a fair bit harder (takes 8-12 Slingshot hits to kill a Hammerhead, and that's after pulsing the shields), but it's definitely not impossible. Hard enough to make it not worth trying though, for me at least.

It'd be very hard but easier with 3 shieldbusters and a Ripper. Class 3 Graviton and Adv. Thruster for good measure, and it just might be possible.

4 * (155 + 155 + 189) = 1996 shield damage per second with good aim.
And the Ripper does almost 5000 damage. The biggest problem would be staying alive.

According to the theory of evolution, I should have died a LONG time ago.

Mines are always a good idea on LF's. They're the only weapon which you can use while still evading enemy fire, so they're perfect for ships that need to dodge a lot. You just need to practice a bit to learn when to release a mine and when not to, or it can get pretty damn expensive(especially since a single Ripper will cost as much to replace as a Sunslayer torpedo, for roughly half the damage). Missiles for the slightly more experienced pilot.

Missiles take up valuble hardpoints which could be used for more shieldbusters...for something like a Starflier, Patriot, or other low-level LF, I consider those to be the most important thing besides the thruster and shields. If you can use mines effectively, you should always use that isntead and just mount the extra stunpulse the missile would have replaced.

@t-hawk, try to use missiles more, my hitts against hammerheads is sometimes with no lag 100% with non-stalkers...

the dagger-outload i use is mostly a pvp-outload
- adv. stunpulse
- slingshot missile (for better bang)
- sweeper missile (for shield ripping)
- dragoon type 1 (proj. speed)
- pyros turret type 1
- hrn. disr. (u know y)
- ripper mines (high bang on groups)
- adv. count. (pvp only)

i did the 245k missions with this baby, and killed also an eagle pilot with it

the defender, a whole other piece of junk (deu to torp-launcher)
- adv. stunpulse
- adv. scorpion (may be also windstalker (but not adviseable to use in combo with the other missiles deu to 9m/s faster))
- slingshot missile (for better bang)
- sweeper missile (for shield ripping)
- dragoon type 2 (proj. speed) (had here first a sweeper missile launcher)
- pyros turret type 1
- sunsl. torp. (heavy bang weap ) (some use stark. torp. for lower costs)
- ripper mines (for big bang in groups)
- adv. count. (pvp only)
