Battleship Killing Needs
If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

I greatly enjoyed measuring my skills with a battleship during the campaign, and as i'm now on the brink of finishing the SP campaign, I wonder; will I be able to shoot down battleships after it's finished ? It's seems weird that i am able to shoot down a base that then will never come back. But then again, i remember there was an abundance of them in Rheinland. Any info appreciated.
Many mods - like Rebalance, for example - have battleship encounters and 'kill fleet' bar missions. But even without those mods, who's to stop you from reloading a pre-mission-4 savegame, kitting out a Defender and trying to get all four killable cruisers in mission 4? There are several campaign missions that cater to your battleship-killing pleasure, and the best of them is probably mission 10 (up to about 8 registering kills in Sigma-13, and 3 more at the experimental shipyard).
Not all killable battleships during the campaign register on the player info screen, so be sure to check the topic Battleship kills that do get counted to avoid disappointments. But even so there must be more than 20 kills that could be gotten - I got only 17 registered kills myself but so far I had no reason to try harder, for lack of competition.
Battleship-killing sprees during the campaign require a bit of different tactics and planning than normal 'beat the story mission' exercises, especially during the Tau-29 skirmish in mission 7 and the Sigma-13 encounter in mission 10. In these two skirmishes you compete with friendly NPCs for the battleship kills and you have to hit fast & hard to get a goodish number of the kills (like two out of three possible in Tau-29, and half or more in Sigma-13). In other missions you work against the clock, like in mission 11 for example. In the Zone 21 encounter after Alaska, one of the three cruisers will do a Molly shortly after you get near it, so either you toast it really fast or it will toast itself. Also, there is quite a bit of opposition there in addition to a nag timer, so it requires nerves of steel to take on Battleship Omaha with no shield batts and just a few nanos left - especially if you have bagged two or three cruiser kills already which will be for naught if you get blown up. I managed to clean Zone 21 once during the maximum-fun campaign, but during the maximum-battleship-kill campaign (T17) I chickened out and opted to dock with just two cruiser kills.
