Questions from across the galaxy.

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

Questions from across the galaxy.

Ok, maybe not from around the galaxy, but perhaps ones that many others like me have thought, but are afraid or unable to ask.
1.What the hell are wrecks/how do they look/do I have to dock with them?
2.In the system map, is there a grid? (dumb question, but I haven´t noticed or I don´t remember)
3.What´s the difference between weapons (tachyon, particle, etc)? Can I combine shields? Because one of the few times I have played, I went to Texas, and someone kicked my ass...my shields seemed like paper.
4.Do all ships travel at the same speed (80) or are there various speeds like in starlancer?
5.Related to the previous question, better engines only drain less power when afterburning?
6.Are crabs immortal?

Should be in spolier fourm

1: Wrecks are dead ships containing various items. You do not dock with them.
2: Yes
3: Diffrent weps work better or worse on diffrent kinds of shields
4: Generaly, yes. But you can rase or lower your speed.
5: Yes
6: Crabs?

For the crabs, I would speak to your doctor, (joke, if you mean the crab ships in TNG, they are not invulnerable, just quite hard to kill with normal weapons).

The rest appears to be answered.

Ok, I went a bit too far with the crabs. Just kidding. It´s just a term sometimes used where I live when you´re doing absolutely nothing, except thinking, and someone comes along and says "So, thinking about the immortality of crabs?". Anyway, what do you mean by "ships generally have the same speed"? Can that be mod-dable (it is somewhat strange to have the best ship in the known universe travelling at the same speed as a horse) to all ships, like this titan mod I just saw when entering here? What is the power rating? And which energy weapons are the best? (no need to start a forum war on this point please)

Engines can be modded, yes. Power raiting is the lvl of weps you can use, if memory serves.

3. You can't "combine" shields because you can only mount one of them at a time.

As to the speed it is moddable, just alter the engine entries for each ship.

Ok. Just in case (I don´t know if this should go in the mp forum): can you have multiple ships in mp, unlike sp where you must change from ship to ship?

No, but people are working on that.

I think you should :

-Lock yourself in your house
-Get comfortable
-Read the entire Freelancer Manual
-Stop reading and posting on these forums, and go play freelancer non-stop for 1 week, it might answer alot of your questions.

"In Silicon Heaven, they would be reunited with thier electrical loved ones. In Silicon Heaven there would be no pain or suffering. It was a place where the computer never crashed, the laser printer never ran out of toner and the photocopier never had a paper jam."

"For was it not written in the Electronic Bible (Authorised Panasonic Version): 'And some will come among ye, and, yea, from thier mouths shall come doubts. But turn ye from them; heed them not. For it is harder for a droid who disbelieveth to pass through the gates of Silicon Heaven, than it is for a DIN-DIN coaxial cable to connect up to a European SCART socket.' "
