Why should ^ be scared?

Well, it can't be missioncargo, because you can't sell mission cargo and it disappears after you get the mission succesfull message.

If it's not modded, you found something we all missed.

Where did you make that pic?
on the BS where you drop off Ashcroft? I swear I never saw it there, or anywhere else.

But if this is a practical joke, you got a lot of people replaying the missions for nothing. That would be the best joke ever

Edit: someone with a bit modding experience should be able to verify this btw.

Well, it can't be missioncargo, because you can't sell mission cargo and it disappears after you get the mission succesfull message.

That's the key, successful mission. If you don't return the cargo to the right place, this might happen. Then again it may just be a strange bug, converted some random loot to a missioncargo.

I've done some retrieve-cargo missions and when I loot the cargo the mission commision say the following:

"Scanning....scanning....Yes, It's all here. Thank you, mission commision out."

or something like that and then you see the "Mission succesfull".
When you then take a look in your hold, the mission cargo is gone. And you're still in space.

But maybe I'm wrong and there is a second type of retrieve-cargo mission where you actually need to deliver the stuff to a base. But as far as I can remember, I never took on such a mission.

And still you wouldn't be able to sell mission cargo. All I think it would do is crash the game if you bring some sort off unsellable cargo to a base or planet unexpectedly.

Sure there is. One I can think of is escape pods, you MUST return to the base with it. The storyline has one too, but it's scripted. I've had missions I didn't hear 'mission accomplished' til I returned to the base. In MP people get stuck with these items when server crashes during the mission. In SP you'd have to
go to the WRONG base and save the game & quit.

I have absolutly no modding experience whatso ever!

When I return Ashcroft, I check my commodities for selling (to make money of course) on the Battleship Missouri (sp???) and there it was. Its perfectly sellable.

I downloaded the savegame editor a few days later, and you can load all theses different 'weird' cargo's. here check it out....

So it must be part of the game somewhere. Now I'm wondering why it appeared there even tho I handed in Ashcroft?

Post Wed Oct 01, 2003 7:54 pm

Not part of the game, just one possible item for bar missions. If you've done no bar missions like that, it MUST be a bug, as I said.

On the FL Datastorm base commodity sell/buy lists, there are also such commodities as VIP's and Prisoners, neither of which have I seen yet (unless you are supposed to blast an armored transport for such).

If it is possible to garner such in the game, then there IS more to the game than previously suspected.

Just a thought.

i blowed a lot off ships, but never had div cargo then i could buy or get in a cature mission (cature specific player) i have mostly aftre that mission some alien artifacts in my fighter (just destroy the 1 u killed almost at the jumpgate, but whatever)...

and it isn't normal, look at the pic of the secret files, there isn't a pic before it, so it can only be a bug (and a nice 1)

If u c some1 in a defender make fireballs from hunters it can be me

hmmmm your thougth are interesting, but I think I have found how you get them. On missions where you capture and return a prisoner, you abort the mission and you might have certain files that can be sold for extra cash. Altho this will get you a bad rep with the Job employers. But it still didnt explain how I got them on the Ashcroft mission.

Oh well.......

I've done the Ashcroft mission yesterday out of curiosity.
I never had those secret files on gov. officials in my hold and I checked several times during the mission.

Did you distroy the transports, you know, the one King says to leave alone?
Maybe it's an easteregg, like the Rowlets revenge. I'll try that theory tonight.

I can't say more about the missioncargo than I said before, because it's been to long and I have too litle experience with them.

What I do know:

Retrieve mission cargo, you tractor in the crago and the mission ends.
Apearently there is a second type of retrieve cargo mission where you bring back the loot to a base/planet, but I'm not sure about that one.

Capture person. You need to tractor in someones escapepod and bring it to a base.

Apearently, when you abort either one of the above described missions, you get stuck with the loot.
That could be an explanation for the secret files on governement officials Snipes has showed us.
I must say, I would expect an icon to go with it, but as the game has a lot of inconsistencies, this could be one of them.

But like I said before, if anyone has some modding experience, he could verify it in the .ini-files.

I have been thinking wouldn't be cool if u can actully buy that stuff! U know like u go and meet a contact (like a junker) in a cloud, and buy it off them. Then u could use it if u wanted to, for example, bribe the government officials for money for the files otherwise u would go public with them if they didn't.
