This topic has been covered many times but that isnt the newbies fault for once. Basically you get a higher rank depending on your number of posts.

5 Recruit
5-25 2nd Lieutenant
25-50 1st Lieutenant
50-80 Flight Lieutenant
80-115 Captain
115-160 Flight Captain
160-225 Lt. Commander
225-300 Commander
300-400 Flight Commander
400-500 Sqdr. Commander
500-650 Major
650-800 Lt. Colonel
800-900 Colonel
900-1400 Commodore
1400-2500 Port Commodore
2500-4000 Rear Admiral
4000-6000 Vice Admiral
6000- Fleet Admiral

My own opinion: a sticky should be made about ranks so that newbies arent constatnly asking about it.

I agree.

There's only two types of people who play Freelancer:
-Those who think the Sabre is the best ship;
-Those who are wrong.

i read in a very distant post that there was a reason why the ranks weren't being stickied but it was that long ago that i can't remember why. Why don't you just ask one of the mods to sticky it or even Bargib

...or loose the ranks. Everyone seems to not care about it.

Im willing to bet they were removed because certain lesser liked people (ie idiots) took the list as an invitation to spam to get higher ranks

Sometimes the glass is half full, other times its half empty. Usually its just twice as big as it really needs to be

i would second what severance says it just encourages spam
nevermind sticky these threads normally get locked quicker than any other

@ severance that probably is the reason why they were taken away

Severance and [steel are right. We don't put the ranks list out in the open, because it indeed will get people into a spam contest to get to the highest rank asap. Of course we don't want that, so therefore not a 'sticky' rank list.
