However, I find a large part of the fun of the game is in discovering those trade routes myself. Go to a base that sells diamonds and then review the base prices for the places you have visited. You'll be able to quickly determine the best known route. As you land on more bases, you'll get more information on buy/sell prices and be able to determine what the best route is.

But again, to provide that information here would be a spoiler, so re-post this in the proper forum if you really want someone to simply tell you what to do in order to make money in the game.

If you don't want to use the spoilers, just look at the prices for diamonds in different systems. Cheapest way to get the diamonds is to mine for them yourself! Quite easy to do ... but I'll let you find out where the diamonds are.

hint: Just target spots on your maps and the question mark will tell you what is found there,

If you have a ship with a strong hull(and I mean REALLY strong), you could try mining them in Omega 11 then selling them at New Tokyo...but you'd have to make sure of a full load, or you might lose a chunk of your profits to damage bills. The cheapest places to buy diamonds is in Rhineland, if you aren't as willing to risk life and limb for them.
